A supercar owning 458 person said to me today “Classics are for people who can’t afford supercars”

I didn’t know whether to laugh or pretend to nod in agreement. I did dare him to post on Ferrari chat or Pistonheads and try to educate him about not just the new cars but also the classics. I highly doubt he will post will see.

Not only that he wants to buy a new car because his mates Lambo Hurucan is 0.2 second quicker than him from the traffic lights. I tried to explain to him so what if someone quicker it doesn’t mean anything. Couldn’t get through to him and he was diverting off topic as he was losing the argument.

Discuss. “Classics are for people who can’t afford supercars”

He was too embarrassed to post on Ferrari chat let alone piston heads

He is aware of this thread and his reaction made me laugh.

If that guy is worried about image, I got more looks in my SAAB by pedestrians while waiting at lights than a Ferrari next to me.
Any pics of the SAAB ? Which Ferrari was it ?

He was asking me for “advice” on whether he should upgrade his 458 to 488. Not sure why he would ask me. Lol

I said personally I wouldn’t I keep the 458 or well change it to F355 Manual, 575M Manual, 360 Challenge Stradele, F430 Scuderia, 458 Speciale or F40, F50. However, those are too old or too raw and can’t be used everyday like a 458 according to him. Not sure how true that is as he uses a bmw as his everyday car I think. He is only interested in new things. Even dismisses a McLaren F1 as possibly the greatest hypercar of all time. Looks down on bmw classics like E30s. The guy makes me laugh. He got quite angry when he saw this thread. Pathetic really.

But let's face it anyone paying over 458 money for an ancient decepid bronchitic Beetle simply confirms they have more money than sense furthermore value does not equate to driving pleasure or ability.

Could always buy a proper supercar modern 'Beetle' for that money anyway.

New supercar v classic?

A no brainer for new supercar.

The Porsche 911 GT3 RS is a very cool car and common as muck near Nurburg. I wouldn’t call a 911 a jumped up beetle as is a disrespectful to the hard work Porsche have done and they are very far apart. As for VW Beetles I never really got them / understood them when I was younger but I respect their place in history, what they achieved and also Porsche helped design them.
