Just back from 10 days away with the family. I parked the Disco in the long stay holiday inn car park at Heathrow, seemed fairly busy, covered by CCTV etc.

I parked in a space next to an immaculate S3 in the hope they wouldn’t bang their doors in to mine. Unfortunately this poor S3 owner has this to come back to. Utterly gutted for the poor owner who will come back to have to sort this out.

Im guessing thats why the windows are smashed, the glove box was open but I would assume the locking wheel nut may have been in the boot hence the rear smashed window.

Someone has obviously tried to make it water tight but the passenger side window covering had ripped open, it looked wet inside as I think its rained a lot here this week. There was a note inside to the owner saying please call 101 ref crime ref no. etc etc.

Im surprised it hadn't been taken away either by the Police or the Hotel must have the owners details. The rain wont be doing the interior any good. If I was the owner I would want to know so I could be making arrangements asap, holiday or no holiday. Absolute nightmare poor sod. The only slight positive was I didn't see kids seats in the back. Even my 5 and 7 year old were quite concerned.

My car had marks up the side in the dust where it had been leant on but couldn't see any scratches.

Scum, after being in Dubai where you can comfortably leave you room key, phone and money on you sun lounger while you go for a swim and be sure it wont have been touched I think we need to wake up and get a grip pretty damn quickly!

Are you ok if I post the photos to the Audi S3 owners club page on Facebook?

Do you know the full reg?

I bet someone knows the vehicle and will be able to contact the owner. As you say, it can't be good it sitting out in the rain like that.

I wouldn't leave a car in a st carpark, especially round London. Anything German and new will be be ripped apart, luckily you have an old undesirable car op.
Id rather have my Disco than a car I have to worry about coming back to that mess or having my house broken in to to knick the keys any day. How are you supposed to know how secure any parking is until you arrive and sus it out. It had high security fencing around the perimeter, is covered by CCTV, is in view of the hotel reception and has cars coming in and out 24hrs a day. There is no such thing as a secure car park anymore.

Yeah me too. Can’t imagine the hassle arriving back on a flight in the early hours and finding this. At least if they know they can make alternate plans and potentially have the car recovered whilst they’re away.
Keep us posted if you find out whos it is

Just remembered I took a pic before I left just in case I forgot where I’d parked. You can just see one of the wheels on the left.

Says the bloke with the most soul destroyingly boring car history Ive ever been unfortunate enough to know about.
When I first read his comment I assumed he was just being sarcastic. That Disco looks good to me!!
Thanks, I look after it and its served me well. Have considered changing it but there honestly isn't anything that tempts me enough to yet. I have a bike for when i want to go have some fun.

As for gooses comment, I also went and checked his car history out, assuming he would have something tasty to justifying such a comment, it would appear not so i'll put it down to jealousy....

I dont tell too many people as they already say I have starting suffering from the mad cow !

It was a proper hatchet job and you were lucky they did not damage your RR in the process
I’m bad enough after an hour in the shops let alone 10 days!

You're comparing a luxury (presumably) hotel to an open car park? Really?
Yes, yes that’s exactly what I was doing..... thanks for your constructive comment, lovely day isn’t it.

Shared on the Audi owners page and S3 group but no owner found yet.

Someone else posted this photo of their Audi that had also had the wheels stolen. This was at Crowne Plaza Heathrow. Same place as the S3 OP?

I would imagine it was a fair struggle to Get that laminated passenger window out. My old Cayenne had laminated side windows, they were really thick compared to typical toughened ones. When I viewed it I noticed the drivers side window had loads of small chips on the surface so I asked the seller what that was about. This was somewhere on the outskirts of London, he said it was parked on the street in front of his front room window, he heard a banging noise and looked out to see a guy hammering at the window with a brick, he had left a packet of cigarettes on the seat and thought assumes he was trying to knick them, the window held out long enough for him to chase him off.

You can see the Audi S3 and Land Rover in the background of this tweet where another car (Insignia?) was robbed in similar fashion:

Unbelievable! I was going to put my dash cam in the disco before I went away, might have caught some interesting footage. On the other hand I expect they would have smashed my windows and knicked it to get rid of the evidence of it was seen.

I asked earlier in the thread, but you probably missed it.

But, I presume you have checked your spare wheel is still in place?

A soft spot on D3/4's unless protection has been added.
Yes still there thankfully!

I wonder if they are knicking the wheels to order as it seems a bit odd to be taking insignia wheels. They may have several ebays adds showing different wheels for sale, once they get an order go take some to suit?

Good to hear yours is still there!
Do you have a protector? Cheaper than a new winch and spare wheel and tyre!

I saw a CCTV video recently of a Merc Vito having its spare stolen in a few seconds and it's a very similar set-up to the D3/4's.
(I have a D3 and had a Vito...)

You may well be correct that some bits are stolen to order. There's certainly no shortage of 'spare' wheels etc on Ebay.
No I haven’t, I’ve had a couple of discos now and so have my parents and no issue with them being knicked to date. I think it’s only a space saver on mine so don’t think it’s that desirable.

It’s just a lottery, a mate in the next village had the entire exhaust system taken off his LWB sprinter while he was away last year.
