First story I thought of when I saw this thread, and I'm not sure this post got the appreciation it deserved. Yes, speed was also a factor, but a flip-flop should never be an appropriate choice of footwear when you could put other people's lives at risk.

I don't understand why people think leg muscles attached to a bare foot are less strong then those to one shod in shoes?

I've been driving in flip flops for the last 7 and a half years.
Total number of accidents.... Zero.
Total number of near misses due to wearing flip flops..... Zero.

Total number of sts given by not falling in line with others opinions.... Yep, that's a zero too.
Same here. I wear safety boots at work (which I leave at work) so drive to and from work in flip-flops pretty much year round.

My accident stats mirror yours.
I wasn’t aware flip flops were such a safety hazard. Never had an issue, must be a PH thing smile

Rather coincidentally this was discussed on the Chris Evans show yesterday. He agreed with my view that they generally have no place anywhere except a beach. 22 degrees really isn’t that hot that you have to wear flip flops, and wearing them to work would get you in trouble where I work.
Funny that, I feel the same about Chris Evans and broadcasting smile

People who wear flip flops outside a beach environment are massive strokers imo. A bit like the rayban crew. 'we're so cool'
Your life must be quite dull smile

Unless on the beach or female, anyone wearing flip flops should have their balls kicked up their back. Good and hard. yes
Do you mean women, a woman driver can wear flip flops without fear of retribution from the driving Gods of PH?

To be fair I can sort of agree with him.

Same as those tossers who wear shorts when it's 8 degrees outside.
You mean cyclists, runners, those tossers?

So what if somebody wants to wear shorts outside when it's 8 degrees, FFS, this place is weird.
