Waldow Performance Alpine A110
Need an A110 with more performance, more carbon and more, er, luminous green? German specialists Waldow have you covered
Without hesitation or doubt, the Alpine A110 is one of the best cars launched in 2018. It's proved that there is another way to do mid-engined sports cars beyond the Porsche way, and embraced that with typically Gallic charm and finesse - it's fantastic.
Still, fantastic will never be good enough for some, and so here we have what appears to be the first modified Alpine, from German Renault Sport tuners Waldow Performance. Don't mock simply based on the colour, either, because there are one or two interesting upgrades underneath.
The first of note is a power boost, from 252hp to 282hp via a new map. While the car is termed a WP300, the website definitely lists a 30hp gain for the 'software optimisation' and not any more. Still, it's more than 10 per cent, so not to be ignored.
In addition to that, there are KW suspension parts available - presumably for those wanting more track focus from their A110 - plus a pretty serious roll cage - most certainly for those wanting more track focus. Those are as well as Endless pads, harnesses, extinguishers, cut-off switches... a much more aggressive A110 is certainly possible with the Waldow parts. That might be missing the point of the Alpine a tad, but it does sound intriguing. Almost like a roadgoing GT4 version.
Then we're into the purely cosmetic stuff, the vehicle wrap that's from €2,800, the carbon engine compartment cover at €1,200 and a €380 carbon exhaust cover. Perhaps not right up our street, though they could well interest some customers more than dynamic meddling, especially given there are just five colours to choose from out of the factory - maybe not the highlighter green, though...
Waldow has a full page of Alpine parts now on its website, everything from a €15 window sticker right up to that €4k roll cage; should you wish, the option is there to spend a lot of extra money on the A110. Does some aftermarket tinkering appeal? Or is the standard car good enough to be left as is? Over to you...
