hello everyone!

i fudged up...

i will start by saying even though i would like to blame other people this is my fault for being stupid and naive.

for a few years now ive wanted a qashqai and the local garage always seemed to not want to allow a test drive, maybe they thought i wasnt a serious buyer. anyway i decided to get the car on a lease deal so its like a long test drive in a way.

so i received it in November last year, classed as new on the paper work and when it came only had delivery miles on it, drove it for a year and had it serviced a few weeks ago at halfords as i could only do a weekend due to work and my local nissan couldn't get me in until after the new year. after the service they told me they found 2 small oil leaks, nothing to worry about but under warranty so take it in to get sorted. got the car back yesterday and was told they need it in again to get the engine out to get to the leak however there is an issue with the warranty, ive never had a new car before so i didnt know what to do i thought i got it in November brand new i service in November... the car was a pre Reg from June and seems i have missed the service date buy a fair few months ( millage is at 12k). like i say above i take responsibility for this as much as i would like to say they should of told me or wrote to me to say it was due, it is really my fault for not understanding.

question is has this ever happened to anyone here before? any advice?

side note, not sure what they did at the garage but the gear stick is now quite stiff getting in to gear 5 and 6.

hi Krikkit,

no nothing, no flag up even before i had it serviced a few weeks ago nothing came up, i just knew it had to be done and thought it was November. i have a service "countdown" but that's set at 18000 miles between services.

Well done for admitting liability. I'm sure you'll still get a torrent of abuse on the thread anyway.

Just to add:
Tyres should probably be replaced with OEM tyres when the time comes.
And lease companies don't like scuffs or scratches when its returned.
yep i'm waiting for it, just glad got some comments before i get destroyed.

As the mileage is within the realms of what it should be for its first service id be surprised if CS wouldn't help you out?

Have you spoken to anyone but the dealer?
not yet, just the dealer. i have sent a lengthy e mail to Nissan CS as im at work and will call them when i get a chance.

How many miles were on the car when you took delivery? If it had 50 miles on between June and November then it's still a new car but if it did 3000 miles between June and November then it's likely it needed a service 12 months from June.

As with a lot of PH posts you've only given us a fraction of the detail you'll need to take this forward so I'm guessing a lot of this which isnt too helpful I accept.

If you purchased a new car it is reasonable to expect a 12month service period which you have adhered to.
Dealer has either sold you a used car (what did they say about service requirements?) or is trying to avoid helping you because they missed out on the service income. When did you find out it was a pre-reg? What did you say to the dealer?

Suggest you take it up with Nissan Customer Services as it seems your dealer is unwilling to help. I would think you have a good case for getting this resolved under warranty
hi,

it was delivered with around 60 miles as it was driven from the dealers to me which i wasnt to fussed about and i still classed it as new as it was hardly any millage.

i found out last night when i went through my lease contract and it states new car but then says REG in June.

going to call the garage back on my lunch and if no help try seeing if Nissan CS would help, also have asked the lease company for help. i know ive prob screwed myself over somewhere but thought best to be honest and try get it sorted.

Doesn't make sense. If it is only on mileage and you are 6k below the mileage why would the warranty be void, unless it hasn't been serviced to the Mfgs specification using OEM parts.?
it was preregistered in June, they are saying i missed the 12 month service, i received the car in November brand new with about 60 delivery miles on it

So it was a new car. No issues. When you speak to the garage tear them a new one for wasting your time. If that doesnt work pursue Nissan Customer services.

...assuming Halfords haven't messed something up and that is why the dealer is not honouring the warranty...
speaking to the garage today at lunch, all it said on the paper they showed me was "no service to nissan 12month/12500miles" but as the manager had gone home and he was "only a salesman" (his words) he didnt know

car was prefect and has been, even after service, since picking it up last night from the nissan check the gearbox feels weird and the car did make some new noises but seems ok again now, just the gears 5 and 6 are stiff

just got off the phone, i think the sales guy got it wrong but maybe i could be in trouble.

so spoke to the service lady, said she will book it in for the work, didn't mention the service! said to just bring the book in (always in the glove box) and they have to get nissan to ok the work. i didnt mention anything about the date or it being a pre reg. should i of said something about it? or just hand it in and wait and see what happens? either nissan say yes or no and go from there? i have now also e mailed every man and there bloody dog about this as i was worried all last night including the lease company.

I'm glad it seems to be moving forward for you and the garage is at least looking at it.

It's odd that there is contradictory information on the lease about whether or not the car was brand new when you took delivery, or whether it was registered in June.

Do you have any other information that would establish the date of reg? If it was a June 2017 car then it would have a 17 number plate whereas a November 2017 would have a 67 number plate.
hi,

its definitely registered in June, but on my paperwork it is also mark as new. just going to give them the car in Jan and hope for the best, also should of held out on e mailing nissan customer care but its done now.

also i'll be honest, i thought i would of been destroyed on here for posting this but its been more help than other forums ive been apart of before.

maybe the trolls haven't woke up yet or missed my post lol. cheers guys and possibly girls..
