Hi looking for some advice I have a e250 and just had to get 4 new tyres.
Originally the front were 235 40 18 and rear
255 35 18
They have replaced the fronts with 225 40 18, rears are same.
They say it is fine, what are your thoughts please? Will it have any adverse effects?

No they aren’t the recommended sizes from what I can see online, I’m guessing that they didn’t have those in stock or something.
I’m not sure when I can get back there so just interested in if it will cause any problems or issues?

Suspect that you have 8J front and 8.5J rear rims.

Sheer bone idle laziness on the tyre suppliers part.

Overall you have lost approx 4mm height difference (235 vs 225 x 40 x 18)

Speedo change will be marginal at 70mph (less than 1mph)

On a sidenote - think that your rears should have been 265/35 x 18.
I did check out suggested sizes online from the Reg and the rears do say 255/35
Just the front says 235/40 and they have put 225 on.
So annoying as it’s a pain getting back.

Yes, too small. Will make the ride less comfortable and the wheel more susceptible to damage.
Between the two the difference would be imperceivable.

I imagine they probably stuck 225s on as they are a very common size and they didn’t have the 235 in.

225s are likely to be cheaper too although I have not checked.
Yes I would think they have done it as they didn’t have the others, plus I’m female so perhaps they thought I wouldn’t notice or check 😡

It’s ok they’re not being awkward about it they said they will change just in their opinion it’s ok anyway basically.
I was just interested to hear opinions on if it’s an issue really.
Appreciate all the response, thanks very much!

It may not be noticeable to you or others but why ? Why are you posting this? Did you save a few quid? Smaller tyres will affect the factory set up and will look crap. At least to car guys.
Don't be silly. Just buy the proper tyres for the back and keep the other two for when you don't get your wheels aligned properly
If you read the post it was the tyre place that put them on without saying anything to me, I did not request different size tyres!

Check your owner's hand book for correct size. If the tyres on your car are not part of the listed tyres then you need to inform the insurance company and get their approval, no approval = no cover in case of a claim.
Thanks for all responses will take this all on board!
