Megane Trophy-R = £72k

Alright, so it's £50,000 without the 'ring record pack. But you need those carbon wheels, right?

Fully kitted out, the new Renault Sport Megane Trophy-R was never going to be cheap. This car, in case it had been forgotten, is a hot hatch with carbon rims, ceramic brakes and a feast of hardware from the A-list of motorsport suppliers: Sabelt, Ohlins, Akrapovic and so on. Now we know just what the cost will be for the 32 UK customers: £51,140 - or £72,140 with the Nürburgring Record Pack that brings those incredible wheels and brakes. A Carbon Wheel Pack pretty much splits the difference at £63,140, adding just the rims (which save 2kg a corner in unsprung mass) in addition to the standard fit items.

All Trophy-Rs will get the Sabelt seats (and no rear ones), an Alcantara wheel, a 7-inch R-Link screen (the larger 8.7-inch screen isn't available), Ohlins dampers and an Akrapovic exhaust. R.S. Performance options include a lithium-ion battery which saves 4.5kg, six-point harnesses and an "accessory ducting pipe for the dynamic air intake that feeds straight into the engine's intake system."

Finally, unlike previous Trophy-Rs and R26.Rs, this Trophy R will only be offered in a mother-of-pearl paint finish with red accents. It's available to order now, although it's not yet confirmed when the cars will arrive in the UK. Of course, if those new prices seem a little steep, those after a sensational Renault Sport Megane with a degree more urgency will still be very well served by this car's illustrious predecessors: both this Trophy-R and this R26.R are comfortably less than £30k...
