Price tag for 292hp Alpine A110S revealed
New leaner, meaner two-seat coupe goes on sale in the UK on Sept 3rd
Alpine has announced pricing for its upcoming A110S, and the increase for the range-topping sportscar is a pretty steep one. For an extra 40hp, high performance brakes, bespoke suspension settings and grippier Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tyres, Dieppe wants £56,810.
That represents a sizeable increase over the £46,905 charged for the bare-bones Pure, but when you consider that the carbon fibre roof (a £2,208 option), active sports exhaust (£1,380) and carbon-backed bucket seats (£1,656) are all included along with the rest of the upgrades, that gap starts to close fairly quickly.
In addition to all its extra equipment, the S benefits from a 4mm reduction in ride height, springs and roll bars stiffer by 50 and 100 per cent respectively, and the weight loss which will coincide with all that carbon. The ESP has also been "recalibrated to take advantage of the even greater handling accuracy and improved grip", with Alpine insisting that the car's extra performance hasn't come at the cost of the surprising comfort and usability which make less costly variants so appealing.
Only a tenth faster to 62 (4.4 seconds) than the standard car, and with just a 6mph greater top speed, there'll likely be plenty of Alpine fans who feel the existing variants offer more than enough performance. For those in search of the most finely honed A110 out there, though, the S promises to make an already great car even better still. Order books officially open on September 3rd, with dealers taking reservations already.
