Car manufacturers that did something wild

Earlier today on the way home I overtook a lorry carrying, amongst other interesting vehicles, a Lamborghini LM002. I know it's probably been asked a few times before, but are there any other interesting "experiments" that car manufacturers have done? The other car that comes to mind is the VW W12 concept car, but as that never made it to production it doesn't techincally count.
