Pagani Huayra Imola revealed

Each example of Pagani's new Huayra will get more extreme carbonfibre bodywork wrapped around an uprated V12 base

Pagani will build four more examples of the Huayra Imola that it revealed over the weekend, with each gaining more extreme aerodynamic features to warrant the variant's motorsport moniker. The first car, produced in secret for TopCar Design founder and bespoke Zonda ‘Unica’ owner Oleg Egorov, wears only a layer of gloss and orange accents over its carbon skin, which sports significantly larger side skirts, an enormous rear wing and similarly dominating diffuser. Look familiar? It's the machine formerly expected to be called the Dragon.

The Imola – named as such after the legendary Bologna race circuit in a nod to the car’s track-focussed alterations – receives a set of seven-spoke lightweight wheels ahead of orange brake calipers, while matching orange details have been added to the cockpit to continue the theme inside. As to how much punch is on offer from the AMG V12 behind, there are no official words on that as of yet. But the enlarged, roof-mounted intake neck backs suggestion that the motor has been boosted well beyond the 745hp in the regular Huayra.

Indeed, we know the twin-turbocharged 6.0-litre M158 is capable of 800hp, as demonstrated by the £3.36 million BC Roadster that was revealed in July with less significant aerodynamic modifications, which collectively unlock 500kg of downforce. With a fixed roof and those larger aero pieces, Egorov’s Imola stands in very good stead to dwarf the BC’s stats. For now, however, your guess is as good as ours – although with four more Imolas set for production, it’s probably only a matter of time before the factory numbers are out.
