Im soon to be commuting to work (6 miles down the road so not far) but im wanting to keep my car in good condition and not leave it in a busy car park all day. So im tempted to buy a 500 quid banger to use purely for the commute to work. Is this likely to be more hassle than its worth or can you usually get something half decent that will run for the year without costing much more than petrol?

Cheers

No, you will need to tax and insure it as well.
im looking at small engined runabouts so hopefully not too much tax or insurance.

Ive just had an epiphany, the wife is happy for me to get a banger for work but not happy with me getting a mx5 as a daily as we are planning on babymaking.

Is this the perfect time to get a mx1 mk5 as my work commuter haha.

will everyone just stfu about a bike for crying out loud i want a car.

Thinking of getting a 2k mx5, bit more expensive than a shed but at least it wont be a complete rotter and should give me a bit of driving enjoyment on the way to work smile
