Heritage Edition Shelby Mustangs revealed

55 years since the first GT350, marked by Wimbledon White on the new one

Picture a Shelby Mustang, and what do you see? Is it off white, with blue stripes all the way over and down the side? It should be, as that was the colour scheme of the first GT350, built by Carroll Shelby and piloted by Ken Miles to victory on Valentines Day 1965 at Green Valley Raceway. To mark 55 years since the Shelby GT350 arrived on the world's roads and racetracks, Ford is introducing a Heritage Edition to the 2020 Mustang line up.

Available for the GT350 and GT350R, the Heritage Edition Package features a Wimbledon White paint job with Guardsman Blue stripes. The cars will also be distinguished by a badges inside and out, with GT350Rs getting new seats with red stitching. All of them are of course based on the revised GT350 and R, which brings steering revisions, retuned dampers and aero work.

Jim Owens, Ford Mustang marketing manager, said: "With their authentic exterior livery, unique appointments and performance Ken could have only dreamed of, the Mustang Shelby GT350 and GT350R Heritage Edition Package vehicles are a meaningful tribute to the legacy of the Shelby brand." Those in the US wishing to pay meaningful tribute to a muscle car icon can order a Heritage Edition Package now, costing $1,965 on both the GT350 ($60,440) and GT350R ($73,435), with builds beginning in the new year.
