It'll soon be time for a set of new tyres on my car and it gets driven in very Jekyll & Hyde ways depending on whether I have passengers or am alone.

Top of my list at the moment are Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 5, based on being a respectable brand at reasonable prices and tests/reviews seem to often put them at the relatively comfy end of sporty which would allow me to not frustrate either Jekyll or Hyde, depending on which one of them is driving.

Tell me why I shouldn't buy a set, or what I should buy instead (and why).

Thanks!

R

I’ve had them on my Alfa 159 Sportwagon for about six months and have no complaints. Good value, grip well, not too much road noise and also did a respectable job in the recent snow. I also find them very good in the wet with the car feeling very stable and sure footed.
Thanks. smile
Snow is not a concern because my other car has CrossClimates.

....They were £40 a corner less than Michelin PS4....
I can get PS4 for about £10 a corner more than Eagle 5 but most tests suggest the Goodyear is more comfortable.

Are you thinking PS4S or just PS4? There is quite a difference and the Goodyears are often rated higher than the PS4.
Just PS4’s. The S’s are more track focused aren’t they?
As I understand it the PS4 and Eagle F1 are more for a fairly sporty daily driver whereas the PS4S and Eagle F1 Supersport are more dry track focused with some sacrifices in the wet and in comfort.

Thanks for the replies - they were helpful.

So I've had the Eagle F1 Asym 5 tyres on for a few hundred miles on various roads and at various speeds and although they might still be 'running in', I think the Eagles feel less sporty but more comfy than the P Zeros they replaced.

More tread depth means more block movement which makes comparing old vs new a little tricky, but out of interest, did you have the original P Zero or the PZ4?
The P Zeros I took off had the pattern in the picture in the link below (date of manufacture of the tyres was 2017) so I suppose they could be called the 'original' P Zero.
