I like these and wondered what others are out there - especially from people in the know, that can state TRUE or FALSE at the end!

I read somewhere that a fews years ago, VW got wind that Renault were designing a "3 ltr Clio".
So off they rushed back to the lab, to try and match this incredible 3ltr/100km fuel consumption figure!

Renault, meanwhile, were on a test track somewhere working out how to contain the lift off oversteer on the RWD mid-engine beast they had just created.

Not sure if it's true, but I like the image none the less

Some really good ones on here!

Now someone help me with this one I heard recently.
The RR badge on a Rolls Royce started out red
When Mr Rolls and/or Mr Royce passed away, it was then changed to black.
True or false?

I know I could probably look it up on the RR website, but I'm a bit lazy really..

They only produced half the number of Lancia Stratoses required for homologation. They showed the inspector a field full of 500 cars, then took him out for a big lunch. Afterwards they showed him the same field of 500 cars and told him it was the other half.

I like this one a lot. Very easy to imagine a group of suits emerging back out into daylight, squinting and ever so slightly wobbly...

27 months on, does anybody know if the OP's story about the 3-litre Clio is true?

I seem to recall the story involved VW rushing to display the super-economy Lupo at the motor show when the Clio was launched, though it always sounded like a convenient story made-up after the event to me.
Its cobblers. RenaultSport stated early on they were working on a V6 car.
Ahh, closure smile
