I need some help, we are looking to get rid of the Corolla in favour of a Smart Four/Two- we don't really need a car that big, as she only uses it to drive to work.

I really don't know too much about them apart from the fact they look like a bit of fun & should return good mpg figures.

What are they like to live with, with regards to reliability, parts, tuninghehe, running costs inc. fuel consumtion.

Thanks in advance...

It's kind of a bit of both, I am fed up of driving around in a boring hatchback- when we don't need the rear seats & is costing a fortune in petrol to run.

We're getting 30-32mpg from a 1.6 (on runs- not town driving), which ain't briliant.

I have no idea what type it is, i'm hoping for a 2003> convertible

Thanks for the advice, unfortunatly she does not have the luxury of cat/ninja like reactions so i'm hoping she should take it easy.

Most of the driving is the commute through country lanes 44miles/day, then around 5-6miles once in work, so nigh on 50miles/day.
Is that asking too much from the litte engine?!

So if I'm looking for a 451 model- how do you distingush between the newer & older versions.

Is it a facelift or just under the tin differences?

Right, I doubt the budget will stretching to an 07 model, It's going to be the older version then.

Around an 03-04 model, so with the newer version being much better, am I better off just stumping up the cash or just living with the faults of the older version?

How bad is the older version? Is it just the gearbox that causes the irritation- as it would seem that a re-map can cure that...?wobblehehe
