Car based pickups

I won't go into the story of how this came about but I am in the situation where my new project car is going to be a car converted into a pickup.
I am looking for advice on which car to use for the project.
The choices I'm looking at so far are:
My Mondeo ST200
Mk4 Astra van
Mk1 Focus estate
Mk4 Golf estate

If anyone has any suggestions they will be gratefully recieved as I'm kind of lacking insperation at the moment.

what abuot something stylish like an alfa? i saw an old 3 series pickup a few weeks ago

It's never going to be used for work it'll just be a show car.
I'm mostly doing it to prove to people that I can do it.
I did think about an alfa 156 sportwagon but i'm not sure if it will look right.

I don't want to buy one already made. I was thinking about an estate because there would be less messing about with rear lights and tailgate.
I was also thinking of using a similar rear cab to the Skoda Felica fun pickup where the rear of the cab moves back and seats fold down outside.



I know the pickup is a bit of a silly idea but it's easier than the first two I had. they were:
2 door Mk3 Orion Cosworth
Mk1 Focus convertable

focus convertible would be interesting!

what about a focus rs estate?

The Focus convertable is on the back burner as I still really want one.
If I build a Focus pickup it will have the RS bodykit, wheels and interior.
Whatever I build will look like an RS, GTI or whatever with just a few modifications. I want it to look like it came from the factory.

What would you suggest then?
