I had one as my first car - a 1.8 Turbo, and fell in love with it. Not only was it far more comfortable than the Corsas, Fiestas and Micras my mates had, it was much, much faster too. And because it was a bit left-field, insurance was no worse than a 1.3 Fiesta.
If only I had known about atmospheric dump valves back then, I would have been the coolest kid around. I was absolutely gutted when it was written off (Porsche up the arse into sudden traffic on the M3). It even had the adjustable suspension (from a switch where the lights are on a Vauxhall) and had been in the family since new...
