Maxxis tyres, any good?
Discussion
I'm having to get some new front tyres fitted at the last minute, and all I can seem to get hold of today is rubber from a company called Maxxis. Not really heard much about them, does anyone know if they're any good? Currently have Falken FK452s on the rear and the ones that need replacing are Dunlop Sport Maxx. Only other option is Continentals, but I'd be spending an extra £40 a corner.
Any help much appreciated

They are indeed quite cheap, £63 for 235 40 17 as opposed to £100 for the Contis which is the only other boot I can get fitted today. I was after mid range anyway, would like premium but my budget won't allow that unfortunately. Decided to go for the Maxxis as that Autoexpress test suggests they're on the same sort of level as Kumhos which was the sort of thing I was looking for anyway

Why not get them for the front too?Anyways thanks for all your input (apart from the people talking about mountain bikes ) I had the Maxxis fitted about an hour ago. Time will tell as to whether or not they're any good!

Any feedback from the OP?
They're certainly not bad for the money, though I'd still pay a bit more for the Falkens next time. They were on the front to begin with, but since then I've swapped them around with the Falkens and now the car seems a fair bit more pointy than with the Maxxis. With the Maxxis on the back end I get a bit more wheel spin in the wet, and maybe a tiny bit more in the dry. Not had any problems with aquaplaning or braking issues in the wet. They're wearing much slower than the Falkens as the compound is a little harder. As before when I was using Dunlops and Goodyears, the back end almost never seems to loose traction on a country road hoon. Gassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
