New 911 Turbo S Revealed

Extra power and highest spec for new 911 Turbo range-topper

Porsche has revealed a new top-of-the-range 911 for customers who it says will only settle for the very best in terms of power, performance and driving dynamics: the 911 Turbo S.

At the heart of the model is the latest six-cylinder boxer with twin variable turbine turbos, but boosted by 30bhp to a total of 530bhp. Maximum torque goes up to 516 lb-ft, and the new top model comes as standard with all the bells and whistles available only as options on the regular 911 Turbo.

So the Turbo S comes with a seven-speed PDK gearbox and Porsche Traction Management (PTM) all-wheel drive. Other features from the Turbo include Dynamic Engine Mounts and Porsche Torque Vectoring (PTV) including a mechanical differential lock on the rear axle.

In conjunction with Launch Control on the Sport Chrono Package Turbo (also featured as standard),the 911 Turbo S accelerates from a standstill to 62mph in 3.3 seconds and reaches 124mph in 10.8 seconds. Top speed is 195 mph. Lightweight and fade-resistant Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes (PCCB) provide the stopping power.

The kit list also includes Dynamic Bending Lights, 19-inch RS Spyder design wheels with central locking, a three-spoke sports steering wheel with gearshift paddles, adaptive sports seats, cruise control, a CD/DVD changer and exclusive twin-tone leather upholstery in Black/Crema or Black/Titanium Blue.

It's the first new Turbo S model in five years, and will be at dealerships as both a Coupé and Cabriolet as of May 2010. Prices for the Turbo S are £123,623 for the coupé and £130,791 for the cabriolet, so about £21k more than the standard Turbo.
