Mercedes SLS AMG Roadster Revealed

These are the first 'official' images of the new Mercedes SLS AMG roadster, courtesy of the European patent office where the design has been registered.

Various spy photos of the roadster have been published over the last few months, as well as a number of photoshop mock-ups, but these line drawings should (in theory) provide the first true picture of how the car will look when it reaches production.

The new Roadster will be revealed 'in the metal' later this year, possibly at the Paris motor show when we expect it to feature the new 5.5-litre twin-turbo V8 that AMG showed us in the recreated Red Pig racer last week. UK deliveries are slated to start in 2011.

Meanwhile, these images surely present a first-rate opportunity for PH's Photoshop jockeys to mock-up some fabulous new colour combos for the SLS roadster.

Gulf Oil blue and orange anyone? OK, perhaps not...

Will be interesting to see if they price it above or below the coupe as its gullwing doors are surely quite a large part of the appeal...

P.S. Sat in an SLS at the Geneva show. Very cool! Thank you Mercedes for making it accessible to all-comers unlike many other prestige stands where most of the cars cars are generally behind the cordon and/or locked.
