Was in a motorway services today and there was a stall for "communications" (phone accessories and whatnot) and on the hoarding above it along with the mobile phone info it also said "two-way radios and CB radios".

It's the first mention of CB radio I've heard for probably twenty years! Is it just a very out of date hoarding or are the Rubber Ducks and Night Truckers still 10-4'ing and Roger dodgering each other out there on the airwaves?

I'm intrigued, and almost tempted to try and get one just to see! (Although I'm guessing a mag mount DV27 antenna isn't going to stick too well to the aluminium bootlid of an MX5 biggrin )

Anyone got one and/or use one?

That's brilliant!

Loving the two tone Granada with the Moutney steering wheel, that's proper '70s funk! biggrin

Do people still chat on them to stranger though, like in the old days, or are they just used as basic in car comms between people who know each other?

I hooked up with one or two girls using CB when I was younger.

Went for an "eyeball" and then a bit more smile
Indeed - I copped off with this really fat 21 year old lass off a council estate who had a kid. I was 15. I was still like a dog with two dicks though. getmecoat

Funnily enough I've got the self same CB (an Amstrad CB901 from 1983) set up in the garage since a couple of months ago (no aerial yet though) hooked up to a 12V supply along with a rather spiffy Realistic amp/equalizer to play my iPod through. All still working complete with LEDs. Looks cool!

Wow, I remember those Amstrad units!

I had a Cybernet 2001, thought it was the dogs!

I had one (a "dial-a-match") nicked off my Fiesta when I was living in France in 1989.
They were those really cool stumpy aerials with the two knurled rings for adjusting the SWR weren't they?

Wasn't there a Cherokee something or other by the same people? Looked like the one on the Dukes Of Hazzard, thick black base and whippy stainless steel whip.
