Really sad moment, in 14 years of driving, never experienced this level of vandalism.

Was in a nice part of London (Chiswick) in a residential road on a single yellow line after hours.

Not blocking anyone and parked consideratley.

Got back to the car, it was late evening and dark, Didnt notice anything, but got a puncture warning light come on.

Stopped off at the petrol station to see that there were deep slashes in my tyre (front passenger side)

Looked at the rest of the car, every panel bar rear has been deeply scratched.

I am trying to trace back everything to see if I did anything to annoy anyone whislt driving before - but nothing, im a pretty considerate and slow driver.

Car is quite unique - Alpina D3 with private plate.

I cant believe the ferociousness of this vandalism.

What do people do in this situation, is it an insurance job?

I rang the police straight away, they gave me a reference number, I'm sure there is CCTV in that area.

Gutter beyond comprehension, but hey - life goes on.

Will post some pics tomorrow to show the extent of the damage.

Thanks for the replies guys, its funny - you come on here to just vent the frustrations, but it does help.

Will call the insurers tomorrow, havent made a claim for years (10+) but have protected no claims.

Its a real shame, its going to cost the insurance company a good few grand I would imagine, for nothing.

I might pop down chiswick high street tommorrow to see if there is any CCTV

where I parked was next to a building - no houses or anything, its at the top of the road where it meets the main road.

Its beyond me, but hopefully its just a random act of vandalism

I know, I actually did think about taking the 993 out tonight, but the battery is flat.

I live about 10 miles away, so I doubt its personal, I havent been to Chiswick for over a month.

Also - who are the insurers likely to use to respray the car?

I am pretty particular about the car - only wash it myself, it would have to be a top job

Thanks for all the responses guys, I have taken today off to ring around to see if there is any CCTV, I was parked nearly outside the side of Barclays bank and an estate agent, so will call them too.

Would Insurance cover the tyre?

Here are some pics of the car I took this morming:

It's very sad

I've re-traced my driving as far back as I can, the roads were very quiet last night, there was no one around. It could be a case of mistaken identity..

Im going to head back today, just waiting on a new tyre.

I actually think the tyre is from hitting a big pot hole just before I parked, I cant see any slash or cut on it.

Grrrrrrrr What are these people thinking, how do they even have the balls to do this!

Probably because nothing will happen to them if they get caught

The more I think about it, its more likely to be a random event.

I thoroughly cleaned the car a few hours before, it looked mint in the dreary dark evening, especially compared to every other car, So I'm guessing it stood out.

Rang BMW for a booking, they dont actually do their body work, its outsourced to an 'approved body shop'

Rang the insurance company, they have put me through to their 'Approved Body shop' she tells me they do work for Main dealers too

Bodytec Ltd in Wembley - anyone heard of them?

Thanks again

Its not them, but close by - need to do some digging.

Usual speel - 5 year warranty on the work, if anything is unacceptable, I can send it back

What's the consensus?

Yes - Montego Blue,

I just asked some friends in the know, the said recommended body shop is actually meant to be pretty good - they do Jaguar paint work.

Ahhhh the agro

Right - got the tyre changed, that was caused by the pot hole I hit before. The tyre guy reckons its kinked the wheel slightly.

See pics below:

The pot hole is much worse in the flesh than the pictures suggest.

The tyre was 4 weeks old, and not repairable.

Do I have any hope in claiming from the council?

He told me that 'These Alpine Wheels are worth a lot, take em off when you sell the car'

Hmmm ok, will do that for you sir

I think you soon realise there is absolutely nothing you can do, the police genuinely dont seem interested.

Even if they see someone on CCTV, how hard would it be to identify them anyway.

I put it down to Jealous chavs having a laugh, they may have done other cars that night and not even thought twice about it today

Im genuinely shocked at how many people this has happened to, They need to make it a more severe crime than what it is at the moment

Please find the people who did this to your car and serve some serious VBRJ.

Such a nice car too frown
I doubt very much that they will ever be caught, and even if they do get caught - a slap on the wrist for £3-£4ks worth of damage?

Funny old world we live in

The more I think about it, it must have just been a random act of vandalism.

It was in an area that I havent been to for a while.

It was the last car before there were total parking restrictions, so anyone walking from that direction would have seen it a mile off. It also had a mini SUV type thing infront of it, so it was pretty covered.

The lucky thing is a group of unsavouries, maybe even two just did it for a laugh or just for the sake of doing it as its a nice car.

I've spent the last few days trying to re-trace everything and look in to the past to see if I upset anyone. Cant think of a single scenario.

Whilst way back in the past I may have done something to upset someone, I would imagine they would have cooled off in that time.

I think the lesson to be learnt here is to try and park in a well lit place with people around or outside lit shops.

The harsh reality is that this will happen again to innocent people who work hard to have nice cars, if a scumbag wants to damage your property, more than likely he will.
