Can anyone recommend any companies around the Swindon/Gloucester area to transport a car from a few miles outside Gloucester down to Swindon for sensible money?

Alternatively, if there's anyone in that area that has a trailor and could help out, I would be more than happy to pay you for your fuel and time smile

The car in question is a stripped-out Peugeot 205 GTi, probably ~800-850kg or so and thus easily towable by most saloons or small 4x4's. It has been stood for a while and has no T&T, so does really need to be transported on a trailor/flat-bed rather than A-framed. Distance wise it's 43 miles from door to door, almost entirely on major A-roads (A48-A40-A419)

A friend was going to do it for me and I bought the car on that basis, but they've seemingly disappeared off the face of the earth, and a friend of a friend who then offered to help unfortunately broke the gearbox on his Land Rover over Xmas and it's unlikely to be fixed for a few weeks.

Thanks in advance for any help or advice smile

Does it drive? If it does, book it in for an MOT in Swindon and drive it there and then on to your house, oe if you feel like it's not going to pass, go straight home and cancel the MOT. 4 miles is plenty close enough to get round the "reasonable distance" thing. Make sure you have insurance though. Yes it is valid for the journey so long as you are going to the MOT station, somewhere to get work done, to the post office to get the tax disc, or home.
Unfortunately, while it's a good suggestion and I've done similar previously, the car needs work before it can be safely driven or even towed on its wheels (A-frame or hardbar). The amount of work required, together with the sensible checks/replacements on any car that's been stood means that it's not really feasable to do this at the sellers property.

Thanks for the other suggestions so far, much appreciated smile
