996 Turbo tyre size

I need to have new front tyres fitted to my 996tt. I enquired via a well known tyre supplying/fitting company, using their online search.
According to my number plate that I entered, the size of front tyres are 235/40R18. Just checked on the car & I have 225/40R18.
I assume that 235 would have been fitted from new & previous owner fitted 225's, to save a few £'s?
I'm inclined to go for 235's. Any reason why I should stick with 225's?

Thanks very much, Pete. Will stick with the 225's then & apologise for assuming the previous owner went for a cheaper option, which would be a surprise, as the car has been well cared for. Cheers
