Good afternoon,

I traded my 996 Turbo for a 996 GT3. I'm over the moon.

Cheers. Porsche Glasgow. Same place I bought my Turbo. I wish I could have kept the turbo too but I'm not Jay Leno.

I had the turbo for 12 months. I was happy with it until I drove the GT3.

The turbo was very fast on any road and any conditions. I thought it looked great with the wide body and lovely alloys.

I picked up the GT3 on Friday. It does feel like a race car. It is very shaper and does like to follow he undulations on the road. Sounds fantastic. The gear change is poor. The turbo had the short shift and the GT3 will be getting it too.

Hi guys,

I have owned a couple of Boxsters and the 996 Turbo and I don't think there is a problem with the GT3 gear change. I just think it isn't great like other Porsches (controversial). I have been spoiled in the past with a MX-5 and NSX.

What was your Favourite? What was the most disappointing or overly hyped? I would love a drive in all of these cars never owning them all. A very lucky boy.

I don't recall any roadest or indeed journalist describing the gearchange on any iteration of the 996 GT3 (or the 996 gearchange period) as being "poor". I've had 7 of them...... The only time they've been poor was when they'd had short shift kits fitted, the 'box, gearshift or cables had been abused, the clutch worn and heavy, or the cables incorrectly adjusted.

I think we're going to need a fuller, more detailed summation of why you think it's "poor" when compared to that of the NSX or an MX5 smile
The NSX, Mx-5 and even my manual DB9 feel like they have a mechanical and solid gear change. They feel like I am changing the cogs on the gears directly.

The Porsche's feel like I am holding a big rubber dildo ha ha ha...

only joking. The GT3 feels precise but does feel like it is pivoting on a ball attached to cables. My terminology isn't great. ha ha
