For all of us lucky peeps that are getting manual GT3's, can you post up your views on this thread.

Mine is due for delivery at the end of October, but I see Taffy59's has arrived so he should be in the car soon.

When are other people's manual cars due to arrive?

My car has still to be prepared for handover (probably Thursday) and therefore still to drive it but when I sat in it yesterday I was surprised how the light the clutch was. I'm sure it's lighter than the GT4.
I'm glad to hear that. Will make it even more useable!
Or we could fit a stronger spring to make it feel more old skool GT3 biggrin

Picked mine up and did 600 miles in Wales last weekend. The car is at Porsche now for a couple of weeks (whilst away) as they have a problem with the airbag saying it has deployed. This is common to a number of Porsches at the moment apparently.

Anyway, my car is obviously very tight and waiting the running in, but is massively quicker than a couple of GT4s with me on our trip. Clutch is light and gearbox/ engine/ steering.... basically the whole car... a delight.

I have had GT3s since the first (1999) and quite a few RSs including 4L. This car is fantastic. Not saying the others weren't any good mind just that this is the cream.

I think that people that have the manual are looking to work a bit harder. I had a 991.1 GT3 and drove both .1 and .2 at the PEC. The new one feels much more aggressive, but suspension is even better (how do they do that... firmer yet more compliant?). The new pdk is a switchblade and a real tool on track. For me, a bit to easy on the road.

I have a '65 race car, 964RS and 3.2CS and these again you have to work. I have a 718 boxster with pdk if I want an easy life and that has been fantastic on continental journeys with hood down and wife very happy.

Would be good to have both pdk and manual GT3 really!

There .... is everyone happy now!
Wow - epic write-up, thank you. You obviously have good references including th 4l, so to say this is the cream is a big statement indeed. Enjoy your running in and look forward to your thoughts when you can open it up fully smile

Are we having a Cars and Coffee at Portsmouth to celebrate its arrival and handover?

Just over 600 miles on mine now and all going very well. The airbag deployment emergency call issue was a pain and I spent 3 hours at Portsmouth on Monday when they downloaded all the fault codes and linked it up to the engineers in Germany. Unfortunately despite all the valiant efforts a fix wasn't found so the system has been deactivated until it can be resolved. Apart from the I am loving the car, just not the weather at the minute. However weekend looks better!
Gareth - yes indeed. 11am Saturday - I'll be there from 10.30 till about midday if you'd like to come down. There will be a few others there too.

Well, I had my 1st drive in the manual today - admittedly only to move it around the OPC car park - but I can say that the feel of the gearshift is fantastic - so really looking forward to putting it through its paces soon smile

All of these positive vibes on the manual GT3 is not doing my 'spec regret, choice of PDK any good at all...Can we please have some negative comments on the manual or my insomnia will continue to deplete my dwindling energy reserves.;)driving
Don't worry about it - PDK-S will be epic just as it was on the Gen 1 GT3 and RS. It will be a different experience in the manual, but the PDK-S is a real game changer - just in a different direction to manual.

Well - 70 miles in it today and all I can say is WOW - what a drive...

The gearbox is superb - really tight and direct gearshift action with a proper positive engagement when engaging the gear. The clutch is light, but doesn't feel too light - it's a non-issue. The pedals are good for heal and toe-ing. In comparison to a GT4 then it's much better in this regard (note - both shod with PCCBs). Indeed it was really good and I found myself not using the rev-matching feature - although that is very good for when you are just leisurely driving.

One big thing to note - the engine responsiveness - if you even think about modulating the throttle input, then the engine responds instantly and you can feel the rate of change of acceleration change immediately too - this is much more noticeable that in any previous GT3 I've driven.

Handling is epic just as all GT3's are. The PASM is good - the firm setting not too much different to it not being selected - on the road at least - so for most of the time, I had firm PASM and no Sport button so that I could heal & toe. PSE on of course... smile

More to follow in due course, once I have done more miles - but so far bloody awesome smile

Anyone else experiencing revving under breaking with sport mode on without initiating a gearshift? I will give the manual a read but out of the country at the moment.
No not at all. If the car revs under braking, then it must be speeding up at the same time (or the rate of deceleration slowing down) - are you noticing that also??

Are you sure you don't just have "clod-hopper" feet smile

Didn't engage the brain there in my explanation.

I noticed it when bedding in the brakes, if you dip the clutch when braking with sports mode on the car blips the throttle. I thought I remembered with the GT4 that the car auto blipped when you moved the gearshift, but I could be wrong.
Lol, I'll try this out tomorrow and let you know my thoughts - it will also auto-blip when you upshift if you are slow and let the revs fall off.

660 miles so far and loving the manual GT3. The car is so aggressive - the extra torque and free-revving nature of the engine results is slippage under "mild' throttle applications = bags of fun...

Still yet to open the car up fully, but ventured up to 6k rpm a few times and it is addictive - just need more miles so I can give it full beans smile

If you have a manual on order then you won't be disappointed.

I assume the oil warms up more slowly in a GT3 because it is a dry-sumped engine and the oil is therefore stored in a separate tank - rather than in the bottom of the engine as in other models.
