I have a 997 Gen 2 with PDK, but without the sports chrono option. I drive it almost exclusively in manual mode (gear lever over to left) with the paddles - at least I have the sports steering wheel.

The shifts are smooth and faster than I coule execute on my previous 996 manaul, but yet they seem a little lethargic in comparison to my Golf R DSG (even with everything set to normal mode) which I also drive everywhere using the paddles. I'm specifically refering to the time it takes from flicking the paddle for the gearbox to execute the shift from one gear to another (including any rev-matching etc).

I get that the Golf's DSG is "next generation" compared to the 997.2 PDK, but I wondering if there's anything I can do to quicken the shift rate in maunal mode.

My thought is to have the sports chrono option retro-fit (sans the dash mount clock - which is good), but does SC - in Sport or Sport Plus mode - actually sharpen/quicken up the shifting when driven in manual mode?

Or to have the COBB PDK remap; anyone have experience of this?

Thoughts please.

... not sure chucking the cash at this will get you what you’re after.
This is my fear.

The OPC retrofit is £876 (Part number: 997 044 903 02), so an expensive punt. I'll need to test drive a 997 with PDK+SC before I commit.

Anyone with COBB PDK map on a 997?

The way the PDK performed after I had the sports/sports plus retrofitted to my Cayman R was a revelation. I regarded it as £876 very well spent.
Thanks Boxsey. So with PDK in manual mode and SC in sport mode (not sport plus) were the gear shifts actioned quicker, compared to normal mode (and still in manual)?

And does the car jerk/jolt with each change (a trait of sport plus mode, so I am led to believe, and one I can live without)?

This thread has made me want to do some more testing on this smile
I look forward to your findings with considerable interest.

From a previous PH thread: 997.2 S PDK - retro-fit sport mode button worth it?

As I said in my earlier post, you will find yourself changing gears manually far more often and that's especially true with sport plus because it really is useless for day-to-day driving in full auto mode.

Try it. Sport Plus on, slip the stick to manual and enjoy near instant gear-shifts at the press of a button, at any revs.
Apparently this is the combination of choice: PDK in manual mode & SC in sport plus mode.
