Hi, my 991.2 windscreen today acquired an 8 inch crack - I heard the stone hit! The windscreen company used by my insurers have said they'll see if they can get authorisation for a like for like replacement. Does anyone have experience and have any advice whether this is important, or other things to be concerned about? Would love to take it to my Porsche Centre but I doubt that's gonna happen.

Thanks.

Stand your ground with the insurer.

Did you sign a contract with a specific glass provider? If not, and I’d doubt you did, then it the insurer’s preferred, I.e.cheap, provider. They’re contracted to replace the glass, there’s unlikely to be a specific you must use ‘the preferred’ clause.

My glass was broken the same and after a number of calls in which I pointed out a few things such as value of car, potential Porsche warranty issues that if forced I would then come after them, the illegal ( I believe) bundling of products, FCA don’t like that kind of stuff, I got mine done via OPC and they paid.

Don’t take no for an answer.
Really useful, thank-you!

Thanks guys your advice very helpful. My insurance company were great - happy for me to get the work done at my OPC, pay the bill (ouch) and then they’ll refund me minus the excess.

Cheers! What a lovely forum this is. smile

Would you be willing to say who your insurers are?
Sure, it's LV. I don't know if my specific policy made it more possible to let the OPC do it, and me claim the money back.
