991.2 gt3 - when is right to buy
Discussion
HI guys, long time lurker. Was looking at mclarens, but I've always fancied a Porsche and namely the GT3. Never owned a Porsche, but I think now is the time for something a little less flamboyant, but a pure driving experience in return.
Is now a good time to get a Gt3 or do you think the premiums still being commanded will come down soon ? Any must have options ? - i don't want it to be more difficult to sell than I have to, as I plan to put a lot of miles on it.....

i've seen a few i like, but no camera - is this a biggy ? Personally I'd have it, but finding it hard to find one in the right colour with the spec i want - namely pdk, clubsport, front lift, pccb, buckets.
Seem to be alot withouht pccb - is this a marmite option, or just flippers wanting to save some money ?

Makes sense re less pccb vars being available. Yes, i read your other thread regarding the number of cars for sale dropping. I was going to hang on till the summer with the hope prices will drop further, but having read that thread, i guess a reduced availability may mitigate such.
You think we'll see an influx of gt3's as current owners trade in for the standard 992's to maintain that buying relationship with the dealers, before apringboarding to the 992 gt3 when they are avaialable ?
Ive seen 2 cars with almost all the spec i want - except one has no camera, and the other has the camera but no pccb (albeit the latter is 6k cheaper) ....

the big dealers and the OPC's
But as I say thin on the ground.
whats wrong with the JZM GT3 that's a big spec PDK car.
great spec, but no reverse camera - and unfortunately the sale price reflects the full cost of every option ticked by the owner. Given the options ticked, it beggars belief he didn't tick the reverse camera option ! Maybe I can live without it. Other than that, room to haggle on this ?But as I say thin on the ground.

OP - Take a look at Sheffield OPC - my old Miami Blue is making an appearance and the Spec. is spot-on.

Thanks for the heads up. just been taking a look. seems to tick all the boxes. similar spec to the jzm one, though 6 months older and slightly higher price. Can I ask what the options cost on this, and you think porsche would negotiate much on that price ?Peter
I dunno. Whilst a manual is fun, ive always enjoyed the smg in had in my m6 - a nice compromise. Especially on the motorway when someone sneaks up on you to undertake- just smash the accelerator in auto mode and let it pick the best gear for all hell to break loose. Plus the sound of those downshifts.....
don't forget guards red/Miami blue!
Im lazy most of the time, so PDK will suit me best. Agree, on that odd occasion, manual cant be beat.
Spec wise, I want PCCB - never had ceramics, so might as well try them out.
Club sport, not because I want to track it, but hey roll cage sounds cool, might look cool, will annoy the wife, and I'm probably never going to have one again.
Front lift for obvious reasons
Buckets - preferably folding so I can stuff in the back
Camera - again im lazy
black head lights
dab
Yes, i should get a turbo, but then on those summer days, i'd always be wishing I was in a GT3
