Apologies In advance for the how long is a piece of string value question but hear me out!

Bit of background first for context, I’ve had a deposit down on an Emira since July 2021 (i4 amg version). Various annoyances over the last year or two mainly due to poor comms from Lotus had me starting to look at alternatives. So much so that I was close to ordering a new Gts late last year.

I decided against stretching the budget as I thought I’ve got a good price locked in with the Lotus ( at the time we were told that if you had an early deposit there would be no price rise.) However that promise has been pulled and the car has gone up another 8% which is kind of sore but not a deal breaker yet and I still have my deposit in.

Despite this I still keep looking at the Gts and the extra practicality of the rear seats are appealing. But now that the interest rates have rocketed I can only afford a used car @ £120-130k region and that’s only if I sell my vx220t which I’m not sure I want to part with!

So it leads me to the question of how long realistically before we see these at around the £100k mark, which would mean I could keep the VX and cancel the Emira.

All i know is that the current ones for sale are not really going for overs anymore and there does seem to be a substantial amount of used cars on the market.

To be fair that was more or less what someone likely paid list price with that spec being very basic.

Someone mentioned a 991.2 turbo s as an alternative, I have looked at those but much prefer the interior and tech inside the 992.

I think it will be a while for the first £100k Gts but they are certainly dropping at a reasonable rate. Cheapest is currently £116k, decent spec manual. Seems to be a lot of price drops even at Opc, there was a carmine red up for £132k a few months ago, now up at £125k. Numbers are growing so it is putting pressure on prices across the board and demand dropping.

I think this is going to happen sooner than I thought. The numbers for sale are growing rapidly and reductions of lightly used examples are almost daily and some big reductions at that. Plenty dipping under the £120k mark now.

Another buyer who missed that the GTS is the oddity of the range and gets a nasty plastic dashboard in standard spec.

Base, S. T etc all get standard leather dash, such a big thing when sat in the car. They become a bit of a showroom monument without it.
Agreed, great spec on the outside but they forgot to spec the inside ! Really needs the Gts package for the interior.

Cheapest car at Opc is now £107k, could be looking at £100k cars by Christmas.

They were what … £115k new?
With options more like £125-£130k, although some have been optioned to the hilt £140-150k which is madness for a Gts.
The red one for £107k was around £138k with options at current price, take £10k off that figure for the more realistic price someone would have paid at the time when new.

Wow, they would probably take a 100k for it now to get shot of it.

No, it probably has 10k of options if that. GTS interior, BOSE, upgraded lights, and a few other things.

Re the manual, its not coincidence that the cheapest cars are manuals. Whilst 'purists' may like them, most buyers want PDK.
Add them up, it definitely has nearer £18k of options, it’s well specced. Maybe you’re right and people are actually put off by it being manual, especially as a daily proposition.

Goes to show, price something realistic and there are still buyers out there. I’m surprised that the GTS prices haven’t put more pressure on the 992 s yet. There is becoming a bit of a crossover where the latter is actually as much or even more expensive and for older cars.

Looks like the person who bought this is looking to make a quick buck! It’s now for sale on a Porsche Facebook forum for £115k! Location is Blackburn.

Well it’s saying sold now! Seems strange that the same car has sold twice in the same day! While others similar price have been sat for months, weird.

It is 2 years old next month, so will need a warranty adding.

That green one was March this year also with 6k miles on it for £103k.

Is £8k enough of a saving?

I personally would want more off. But you're probably right.

I reckon it will end mid 80s, making it a £91k car.

Just seems strange they are not selling it direct. Why?
Have to agree, think this will be the first sub £100k car. Not the best spec and has the dreaded plastic dash!

I am in the market for a 991.2 GTS, just waiting for the right colour and spec. A good one is in the low to mid eighties, with low mileage.

So a 992 GTS is now less than 20k more. What are peoples views on 992 GTS vs 991.2? I know 992 is more capable with wider front track etc, but is it more fun also? I have driven both but not properly back to back. I would be interested in the views of people who have owned both.

Or should this be a separate thread.
Would be interested to hear the comparison between the two also, the price gap between them is certainly narrowing.

Wouldn’t surprise me if trade price began with a 7.

As a GTS owner, not quite sure why it’s a surprise to anyone that this car’s depreciate.
IMO it’s only an issue if you can’t afford the car . I bought it to enjoy, not what it will be worth when I sell it .
It’s not a surprise, the question at start of thread was when will we see them at £100k, so it’s took 9 months or so.

'Overs' for a GTS model was always ridiculous. It was nice knowing you had a car which hadn't depreciated (I got an early Targa GTS), but it wasn't hard to get one, so paying 20k over is mental.

That said, it wasn't just a Porsche thing. I remember taking delivery of mine and likely being able to make 25k quite easily, but to buy what ? Everything had gone up, you couldn't get a slot or was trading over list, so it really didn't seem like a genuine 'over' to me, more just the market at the time.

The car above was 109k list with 10k of options, so 119k when new. It's now 100k after 2 years. The talk of the owners getting 'starting with a 7' is ridiculous talk. It would be mid/late '8's' IMO, so we are at 25-30% drop in 2 years, which to me seems pretty good compares with other some other cars on the market at this price point.
Do you think Porsche would offer much more than webuyanycar at this moment in time for that £100k car? Because their trade bid is £78.5k so not far off the money.
Trading in any car at the minute is going to be real low ball offers imo, not just Porsches btw.

There has been a handful at around the £100k mark now which have sold, so tells me that at least they sell at that price, others hovering above are still sitting there week after week, month after month. But punters are still buying at the lower end.

Did it ?

I posted that in March and it’s now December and not sure we still don’t seem to have 100k cars yet.

Sat here now, I’d say short term there will continue to be a drop in prices for a few months but personally think things will then firm up as we go into Q2.

Only those that need to sell are currently doing so, whether that be because they have other cars coming or because they are stretched financially.
Not currently but there has been a £100k car and few around that price low £100’s. It’s happened sooner than most thought to be fair when posted in March.
