Could anyone shed any light on this before I speak to my OPC after the bank holiday?

See the below images - I washed my car yesterday and noticed two 'rust' marks on the black trim on the lower grille openings on BOTH sides of the car. I've not noticed any clips there during other washes and this marks have only just shown up this week (I washed car last week and didn't see them then).

Any thoughts? Should there be clips there and I've just not noticed before? The rusty marks will not come off when cleaning.

Many thanks!

My trim is in great condition - all marks bar the brown ones are road grime and 'dirty rain' spots from the weather we got literally 15 minutes after I finished washing it!

Nothing could have rested on it. Doesn't look like a place where clips would be, but another owner could correct me on that one.

The worst one looks like something has been clipped on there. Annoying that I cannot get rid of the marks.

I think what has thrown me here, is that it's the same spot on both sides of the car.

Good thought! I will take a look.

ETA: Nothing that I can see or feel above the area.

No, it was part of someone's collection. Do you think there may have been clips there that I've not noticed before, but have come off this week?

Thanks for the feedback gents - it does sound like that could have been the grilles. Wonder why he took them off before selling - perhaps needed the extra few quid from eBay to fund the brand new 911 he was trading it in for...ha ha.

My first reaction is that I prefer the look of the open bumper, but only marginally. I'd have to see a car with them fitted in the flesh before I committed to buying and breaking things during fitting. smile (I work using my brain and not my hands for a reason - I'm about as practical as a sunroof on a spaceship)

My OPC has been great - does look like it's had the grilles on and the clips have left rusty residual marks. My only option might be to get some sorted and put them back on, after all.

Seems the grilles are quite a common fit. Take note, Porsche!
