Temporary Cayman S replacement - suggestions needed
Discussion
I'm VERY reluctantly selling my 987.2 Cayman S. Need to unlock some cash for a new business. Its top spec so should sell pretty quickly.
Anyway, thats not the point. The point is that I need a £10-15k toy to play with in the mean time. Obviously it wont be as good so no point comparing it but shout if you have any reasonable ideas.
Has to be petrol, not too big, nice build quality and shouldn't go bang immediately or frequently. And its got to put a smile on my face as its a weekend toy, not a commuter.
Considering Z4 35i, 135i, S3, merc SL
Cheers!
If / when the new business takes off I'll get a 981 Cayman or Boxter GTS with PDK.

These are all brilliant, completely forgot about the elise - always wanted one when I was younger. Cant believe how well they've held thier value too but may be a bit too uncomfortable for weekends away or long drives.
S2000 is a great shout too.
Going to look at a 2009 Z4 35i today. Not exactly the ultimate drivers car but quick enough, decent interior and hardtop roof is a bonus as it won't be garaged...

Find another way of raising the money for your business? The gen 2 Cayman S has very little depreciation. Anything you buy for £15K is likely to depreciate much quicker (except for the gen 1 Cayman S that was mentioned). You'll definitely miss it if you go for any of the replacement options that have been mentioned.
Thanks for throwing a massive spanner in the works! To be honest, its strange when the most financially sound option is to drive around in a Porsche but I would definitely agree!
The Cayman is in amazing condition and has all the extras - PSE, PASM, SC, BOSE, full extended leather, sports plus seats - I can't really see it depreciating much and also has been super reliable so very cheap to run.
HOWEVER. The more capital I have to throw at this new venture the better and I'm probably at the point where a Z4 (or whatever) and £20k in cash is worth more to me than a Cayman S and zero pounds.
Also - the banks will match whatever I put in so an extra £20k investment gives me £40k cash.
The main issue I have is that I'll never find another car as good as the one I have for £30-40k so once its gone, its gone...
