Unfortunately it's the shaft which has cracked. It's corroded quite badly and grease is weeping from it. Annoyingly the boots and clamps are all fine.

I've bought one from Germany from a used part supplier so hopefully it'll arrive in time and be fit for purpose.

The used one I collected on monday had damage to the splines.

Still on the hunt though just in case.

Thank chaps. I've spoken to all of those apart from Prestige who I'll call first thing

Thanks for trying Chris, appreciate the help. Thanks too goose, I've emailed both garages.

Bit of good news today, the recon outfit has called to say that it's been refurbished. I'll be picking it up tomorrow and it'll be fitted Sat. Gives me a week to ensure all is well otherwise I've got a back up used part I've managed to source from Germany.

Thanks everyone
