718 GTS Launch

I have been told that GTS will launch in UK in October with either 375 or 385 BHP (slight difference of opinion of two sales people !).

Both models now share the same power output in base and S guise so would be surprising if they differentiate GTS I think.

Build is starting in October so I would say yes, customer cars will be dleiverd in December/January as delays due to move of Cayman to Onabruck are apparently now lessening and lead times on Boxster have always been shorter anyway

Given that the GTS will be effectively a trim package, I'd be surprised if they were on a different line, but they might have produced a few hundred in popular spec to be used as press cars / launch cars - and it might be those that are available in the first instance...

I am told that lead time on Boxster is now about 12 weeks with Cayman rapidly approaching that. I too have a deposit on a GTS (Boxster) and was told Dec/Jan delivery. I am sure you are right RMJ that some press/demo cars will be first down the line but doubt that they will amount a few hundred - not sure when they are being launched outside UK but launches in varying countries do seem to differ by a few months as production ramps up. Customer cars won't be far behind I suspect. I am in the factory on 21 September so will keep my eyes peeled !!

Ignoring any options on either car, the current 911 is £26K more than a Cayman S with both cars having more or less identical performance. In my view that is a lot of money for 2 cylinders and 2 seats (which I personally don't need) and when you are in the driving seat the appearance/quality of both is almost identical - barring a couple of extra dials. So a counter argument is that 718 GTS which will probably have performance between 911 and 911 S is good value for money. My current car is a 987 Spyder which cost £53K. My previous car was a 996 Turbo which approached £95 K with Options - almost twice the price. The driving enjoyment from the Turbo was no more than I get from the Spyder. The new GTS will have performance very close to the 996 Turbo so again - good value for money I think. If you can't get over the engine argument though I guess this is all academic!

Yes I think I refer the 981 GTS front end but the 718 front end does look better in the flesh particularly when painted in body colour

Just got back from visit to Frankfurt Motor Show and Stuttgart factory. Tried to otain info re GTS launch but everyone was very tight lipped! The only thing that one representative would confirm is that power will be 375 BHP and that GTS interior options will be very similar to 911 GTS (and hence 981 GTS) Since returning, press reports are indicating a November launch at LA.

My OPC are standing by their October timescale though I am beginning to doubt it. Maybe some news at Tokyo motor show ?

At last !! But 365 BHP lower than I was to.d both by OPC and Porsche at Frankfurt motor show. Still, plenty fast enough I think! Can't wait to get speccing at OPC !

Just spent some time atOPC speccing my Boxster GTS. Order placed, delivery expected January. The waiting game begins!

Alot of money for the GTS full interior but it's a shame they dont do other colours.

I have also not gone for the GTS interior May be diluting the GTS experience but also didn't want a black interior and also think the option expensive Ihave gone for graphite blue and crayon sportex pack Exterior colour is also Graphite Blue.

I agree and have included it in my spec. But of a cheek charging £105 for it but hey it is a Porsche!!!
