Reading the mammoth thread in General gassing on here about the S3 being a target for thefts (along with Golf Rs etc.) got me wondering about whether our own Boxsters /Caymans are similarly a high profile target.

Based on the reasons given in that thread for an S3 or Golf R's enduring popularity with scum, given that our Caysters are a relatively impractical car (2 seats, less "boot" space, low ground clearance etc.), then it's probably not a particularly attractive option for thieves to use to go robbing.

Secondly, I'm guessing that the market for stripping a Boxster or Cayman is much smaller than an Audi or Golf hatchback where I imagine there's plenty of custom in fitting lower spec model with the S3 or R's alloys, seats etc.

Which presumably leaves the possibility of a Boxster or Cayman being stolen to order for use in another country perhaps?

Just wondering out aloud if anyone on here has experienced a theft (or attempted theft) of their Boxster or Cayman?

Thanks all, so pretty much as I expected.

Good to hear there doesn't seem to be a market for stripping of parts or shipping off to random countries across the world either.

Vandalism is a concern, I guess they do stand out a bit more than your usual hatchback.

Only issue I've had so far is my tyre caps have gone walkies. They're silver tyre caps too which makes them quite difficult to get hold of and I'm not certainly not paying £6 for basic plastic silver caps off eBay that I've seen!

Ahhh! Thanks.

For some reason never thought to go to the OPC as just presumed they'd be outrageously priced!
