How are you all getting on with your cars? Good and bad points? Spec you wish you had / hadn't bothered with. Are you planning to keep long term?

718 C S, coming up to 9 months of ownership.

Enjoy most aspects of what is my first Porsche ownership experience.
Love the way the car drives, wonderfully connected to the road. PSM helps with that - feels v planted.
Manual gearbox is outstanding. Sharp, robust and a great feel.
I love the way it looks.
2.5l F4T is generally a fun plaything. Responsive and incredibly quick. Lag to induction is also fun. With PSE and Sport on it is obnoxious and quite loud, which I like. Though on the motorways it does drone somewhat, even on Comfort and with PSE off, and does wear on the ears after a while.

I am however trading it in currently for a new C63 AMG Coupé. Being the only car in the household (my other half doesn't drive), the 718 having only 2 seats is at times restrictive. We have friends and family over occasionally, and it's a pain in the bum not being able to go out with 4 in the car.

So it's time to change to something different entirely, but with the practicality of four seats, a proper boot and fold down rears. Plus, a thumping V8 monster itch that I've been wanting to scratch for a long time.

718 C S will be missed.

Oi Jimbo, there's nowt wrong with a Golf R!! I have a 981 BGTS too though so I'm not prejudiced lol.

I'm very interested in how the 718s are working out as I've never been obsessed with having loud engine noise when I'm driving. I'd have torque every day of the week over noise, I seem to be unusual in that respect on some forums. The one thing that frustrates me with the 981 (apart from the slow steering) is the lack of power until you rev the tits off it. It may of course be due to the Golf having been mapped up to 400 lbft of torque. But I'd imagine the 718 engine will be more in tune with my requirements power wise. I really must go and have a test drive.

Having said all that, I do like going under mway bridges with the hood down. It is a nice noise after all.

How would you compare the two cars? Lots of debate on the forums as to why not just get a golf R as similar pace etc?
