Looking at Cayman S
Discussion
Hi All,
I've been a modified SEAT owner since 2007, started with a modified Ibiza TDI, then Leon FR TDI, then MK2 Leon Cupra R and my current MK3 Leon Cupra 280 which is running 420ps at the moment.
I fancy something completely different, I have been looking and quite fancy a Cayman S, ideally I want a starting base of 300ps+ so looking at 2010 models on wards.
my 2014 Cupra is fully loaded with tech, LED headlights, DAB, Bluetooth, Sat-Nav, auto lights , heated seats etc etc etc. So I'm looking for a Porsche with a similar level.
are most of these standard on Cayman S or are they optional extras? is there any optional extras that are must haves?
What years have what power? And apart from Software (I'm looking at APR as I have been a APR customer on both my petrol Cupra's) what else can be done to add a little more poke? I've not owned a standard car since 2007 haha.

I have a really nice example on sale via 911Virgin, it's the Sapphire blue one.
Found it, love the outside colour! not so sure I could live with the interior colour. Maybe you have some more photos? Spec looks very good, very low mileage as well, I've been looking at OPC cars for the same £££££ with twice the miles.

Firstly, an ideal example and one that should be fairly easy to source must have PSE, Sport Chrono, PASM, PDSL, 20 inch alloy wheels, extended leather and the BOSE sound system in order of importance. What is more, if you can find one with PCCB brakes, I had them in 2/79 cars, or the carbon bucket seats, I had them in 4/79 cars, then it's a special find. Lastly, I'm always pursuing PTS examples which are also very rare...
Fizz has the blue one got most of them? Quick update, still in the process of trying to sell the Cupra.
I arranged with Porsche Silverstone to test drive a 981 Cayman S - it didn't have the options I wanted and was the wrong colour but thought it would give me and idea, went after a 12 hour night shift, turned up and car wasn't there. They took me out in a 718 Cayman S instead which felt quite good but seemed a little slow (compared to 420ps Cupra). As a gift though they send me to the Porsche Experience for free (as they 981 cayman S still isn't back).
So I attended yesterday and the 718 Cayman S (with ceramic brake option) was absolutely fantastic, I seemed to be lapping a lot quicker than anything out there (a lot of 911 out there) and the instructor seemed to be very happy for me to keep pushing.
Porsche Towcester have located a car (981 Cayman S with the options) in their dealer network but obviously until I can say yes its staying at its current dealer!
the 981 is well within budget, I think an early 718 will be in budget as well. Waiting for Towcester to get their 981 Cayman S back so I can test drive it. then decide 2.5T or 3.4 NA.
2.5T would get a cheeky remap just to sharpen it up a little, 3.4 would probably do headers, throttle body and map to tidy it up.

About to sell my low mileage, well specced PDK 981S Cayman. PM if you are interested in buying privately - can do with or without Porsche 2 year warranty depending on price.
As much as I'd love to do private, I need to do it though some kind of dealer to finance it, haven't got 40-50k sat under my bed haha. Johnniem said:
Sounds like you need to shift the Cupra, buy a small runner for £500 and sit back and wait. What you are describing you want are like hen's teeth. I have most of it except the zenons (why are they such a 'must have'?). The sat nav covers europe and I believe the update discs are only £200 - £300.
Good luck with the search.

I have a MK2 Golf with MK3 Golf TDI conversion to use and a Kawasaki ER6-N so I don't need to literally sell Cupra and buy straight away!Good luck with the search.
