Deposit down on a BGTS. One thing I’m still not clear on it what monthly fees to expect.

I still don’t undertstand what PCC does and how much it costs.

My dealer said don’t worry about it, just buy yourself a sim (only) card from any provider and you’ll be fine. What does it do?

I know in the olden days cars had car phones, but nowadays don’t they usually just connect to your phone via Bluetooth and use data from your phone?

Are there other monthly services to pay for too?

I put a data a sim in pretty much straightaway. Didn’t use my phone’s data as I had little on my phone contract at the time. I’m not sure how much data the embedded card has but figured at least it’s there as a reserve once the one I added gets used up before I replace it. There’s three apps - connect, car connect and track precision. It’s £230 a year got the tracker to be activated. All the cameras next functions are free for two yeaare after that it’s a subscription. You’ll get a code when the car arrives to set up the apps and create an online account to manage the functions.
I've not seen any data limit on the embedded SIM. Probably not necessary as the apps / functions you can use with it are not particularly data intensive.

However, if you want to,e.g., connect to the car's wifi hotspot to stream browse you need to do one of two things

(1) pay a stupid amount of money (£39 for 7GB for a month) for a data package

(2) get your own SIM and install it.
I think that’s what the dealer was saying, that the data was silly money so to just buy a sim. But I wasn’t sure how it all worked/what it did.

Safety Security Services this costs £235 a year or 24 months £450 this gives airrbag deployment notification. Telematics Breakdown Call and 24/7 Vehicle Tracking System.
Nothing is monthly you have to pay upfront. PCC does give you the option to find where your car is but its not a reconized tracking unit so no insurance discount etc, but will tell your where your car is so you could possibly assist the Police

Is Safety Security Services this costs £235 a year classed as an insurance tracker?

I read this as standard PCC tells you car location, but SSS is the tracker - that right?
