Boxster 986 exhaust
Discussion
I have no direct experience, only my general reading about most things Boxster since buying mine in May, so please don't take this as gospel but I believe the resonance/drone on most aftermarket set-ups is due to the lack of link pipe between the two separate silencers, so can be resolved with a bit of modification.
Might be worth having a look on Boxa and 911uk for similar issues and potential solutions (I'm sure if you search "drone" you'll get a good few results) but it may not require a whole new backbox.

The 986 has only one back box therefore no linking between silencers, i believe that separate boxes started on the 987.
My understanding is that the 2.7 and 3.2 had the same rear box while the 2.5 box was different. Obviously you would need to get the correct model year (pre or post facelift) as they had different outlets / trims. Pre-facelift the exhaust trim was welded as part of the box, while on the post facelift the exhaust outlet / trim bolted on and was interchangeable.
