New Windscreen
Discussion
Hi folks,
After a lovely afternoon in Cambridge, I got hit by a stone thrown up on the M11 from the opposite carriageway, so a new screen will be needed for my GTS.
My insurer wants me to go through Autoglass, but I’d much rather have the work done by my OPC.
Has anyone got any experience of this, do I need an approved windscreen??

I will speak to my OPC again on Monday.
My concern is about the ridiculous warranty loops we have to jump through.
I would prefer the work to be done through an OPC to cover my ass with them, but I’m sure Autoglass will provide good service.
Good question from earlier though: how on earth could having a screen fitted professionally by Autoglass, through a huge insurer, invalidate my warranty?
It surely couldn’t....FFS!!??

Evening all!
My insurer has authorised Autoglass to fit the Porsche OEM glass, so I just have to wait for it to get here from Germany.
There should be no problems, but knowing my luck.....!!!
The screen definitely needs to be replaced, I was lucky the stone didn’t break through....and so relieved it didn’t hit the bodywork!!
Thanks for all the replies, much appreciated.

Quite incredibly, I have been informed that I’m unlikely to have a new windscreen this side of New Year.
My Porsche dealer have confirmed the issue and have said there is nothing that they can do.
Am I being unreasonable to expect a company like Porsche to source replacement parts, for their cars, faster than this?
It’s a ridiculous, frustrating state of affairs, leaving me unable to drive this cracking car till God knows when.

Well this goes from bad to worse!
I’ve not driven my car for three weeks and have no idea when I’ll drive it again!
I can have a non-OEM screen fitted, but at the cost of invalidating my warranty, or I can wait.....and wait.....and wait..... to eventually get an OEM one, maybe some time in the New Year, like Easter!
Porsche customer services acknowledge that i’m between a rock and a hard place, through no fault of mine.
My insurer has been very supportive and sympathetic, happily agreeing to stump up the extra cash for the OEM screen.
They are very clear that Porsche should provide me with an equivalent replacement car, pending resolution of the supply problem of their P-embossed screens.
I have requested that they provide me with a (Porsche) replacement car in the meantime, given that they are unable to provide me with a replacement windscreen for the car they make, that satisfies their warranty conditions.
That is beyond their powers apparently.
They referred me back to my OPC, who had referred me to them!!
And the OPC didn’t get back to me this afternoon, leaving me Porscheless for another weekend.
Pretty crap all round.
I’m genuinely shocked by this experience, it’s extraordinary, a real eye-opener.
The Porsche experience, eh?
