Thought I would start a new post bringing both cars together so we are not toggling between the old posts

Live on configurator now without taking back door , just specd spyder to a good level ie buckets(folding of course) led lights leather etc ,2zone climate £80k.
The previous model with a reasonable spec. was circa £67k but buckets were free and led lights would have cost more!
Off to compare gt4 with old one

Gt4 comes in at £82k , GT silver , leather,2zone,went adaptive seats as no folding buckets (yet) don't like 918 style, parking sensors which you never got on old one and led lights plus red belts and few other bits.
Cost over my old 981 is about £8-9k.
Personally don't think you have to spend more than £82k on either gt4/spyder to get a well specd car!

At those prices and a longer production run I can see the 981 cars prices slipping.
£80-85k for a nicely specd 718gt4 / spyder why pay more than £70k for the older model
yes I commented the other day (on the other thread) that the old GT4 will plummet in value, for which I was laughed at. They will hit £50K in a year.£80-85k for a nicely specd 718gt4 / spyder why pay more than £70k for the older model
My take on it was the 987.2 was the last of the caysters to own until the 981gt4/spyder came along, the 718/4 bolstered 981/6 prices now that's about to all change especially if a 718/6 makes its way to the market
I think if you have owned a 981 gt4/ spyder since new and have sold it the cost to change is minimal ie from selling my car 18 months ago (prices haven't slipped much since) it would have cost me £3-4K plus tax extra to get into a 718 gt4 with its 3 year warranty and no service costs for 2 years and if you are looking to get into a secondhand gt4 then at the current prices it's a no brainer to go for the 718.
I fail to see why you need to spend in excess of £85k on the 718 gt4/spyder, all you need to add is the PDLS/LED lights, leather and seats of choice nothing else adds to the driving experience or future values. Some may argue the ceramics but the steels are perfectly effective, as they say less is more! But each to their own the trinket options are longer this time round to tempt prospective buyers to part with more cash!

Why are upgraded headlights seen as such a must have option?
Genuine question
When some of us become a certain age good headlights are a must at night, Porsche I have had in the past without xenons etc have been like driving with candle lights, even our mini has LEDs. But if your night vision is 20 20 then not requiredGenuine question
I think some people are judging the 718gt4/spyder before it's been driven ,the higher co2/weight figures is down to the WLTP , no one really knows what the gearing is at this stage could the acceleration figures which are close to the old model be due to different ratios?
I reserve judgement until I hear reviews from reputable auto journalists or I am lucky enough to drive one

From all accounts the '6' isn't based on the GT4 platform though, its just a standard 718 with a 6 cyl engine.
So it will address the issue with sound from the 4 cyl, but it isn't really a GT4 touring in any way
That actually may not be a bad thing for a road car as long as you can spec X73 suspension and buckets! Not having gt4 platform etc keeps price down , they may even return engine back to 3.8 and perhaps 380-390hp. So it will address the issue with sound from the 4 cyl, but it isn't really a GT4 touring in any way
Also they may actually fit PDK to that model as well

And the rear of the 987 is far far better looking!
All sounds good for current 981 gt4/spyder owners as keepers! Maybe worth more in the long term than the 718!
Same is happening across all cars, my wife wanted a JCW so I made sure we got one of the last new pre gpf models(June 2018) although the pre November 2017 cars are better as cut off date for EU noise regs emitted from exhausts.
