987.2 High Pressure Fuel Pump Failure
Discussion
On track at Silverstone yesterday had the engine light come after a few sessions then warning message of Reduced Engine Power, Code 1026. Cleared the code but came back again almost immediately.
Reading various forums this appears to be related to high pressure fuel pump failure which looks to be a known fault pre-2010 cars, mines a late 2009.
Plan is to remove and potential rebuild current pump, as a new pump is £800!
Before going ahead with this, it would be good to know what part of the pump actually fails on these.
Any PH knowledge on these pumps?

It is a Bosch pump, apparently a bad batch they made as also affected BMW around same time.
Did a bit more forum browsing yesterday and some have mentioned it was a bearing failure inside the pump. Can't find anyone mention about rebuilding one, all look to replace the pump
I will speak to Porsche, but given that the car hasn't been a road car since 2017 and is heavily modified from standard I don't think they will touch it
