981 GT4 high mileage prices

Hi all,

Looking to get into a 981 GT4.

A friend of mine is going to be part ex'ing his car in for a later model, spec below.

The car is a 16 plate, 26,000 miles 1 owner example.

I do plan on using this car, very frequently, so thought best to go for a higher mileage car vs a garage queen to remove possible increased depreciation.

Do we think the values will drop somewhat now cars are falling outside the PCP finance option? Car in question is 62k.

I have never owned a Porsche, so am very excited by this proposition.

I can see there are some cars on AT and PH that have seem to stuck on the used market, are 981 slow to sell typically?

So are bucket seats the 'must have'. I plan on using this car alot. So the spec really spoke to me. Nervous that alot of cars are now falling outside the pcp finance period, which could adversely effect values?

That’s what I think too. It has FPSH too so maintained properly.

Porsche offered him 60 for it 62 is what hed like for it
I see they are rightfully very mileage price sensitive. So hope using the car i would loose less but the finance deal I have been offered is rather good too

Bought it 2017 from Porsche. Apparently owned by one of their regular customer. He has owned it since.

At £62k is not a bad price but I suspect an OPC trade bid on that car would be mid to high £50K’s. And retail at mid to high £60K’s.

i know WBAC offered him 58k when he had it inspected, which i guess is a good starting point

i am like you, especially when you know they have been looked after. My only concern was possible sudden dip in value due to purchasing options reducing (no more pcp due to age of car), limiting market

If the GT4 follows previous GT cars it will soon hit its low market value point and stay there. Other GT cars have done that and then climbed to a higher value (e.g. the low point for a 996 GT3 was about £35K but they now average about £75K and are still slowly rising).

If I had to guess, I would say the low market value for the GT4 will be £60K. YMMV. So if you're getting it for £62K there's a good change that depreciation will be minimal. However, beware that running costs (fuel, tax, tyres, brakes and servicing) are high. So it's not cheap motoring!

Yes, 60k at OPC, and 62k to me. He doesnt want to spend time trying to sell it privately or SOR

PCP ending will have no affect whatsoever on 981 GT4 residuals they are holding up well and the right spec cars sell quickily if priced realistically. The market will only improve now with lockdown easing better weather and track season beckoning.

Sports exhaust is standard.

Spec appears decent although black with red stitching? not the best combo for resale.

I would want a rev readout before agreeing a purchase.

I understand that I will lose money, that is a given, I was more worried (crystal ball moment i know), about the market suddenly bottoming out, more for justification to myself than anything. Agreed regarding rev readout, have there been some horror stories then?

For sure! that is the aim! I have a Yaris GR CP coming in a few months that will be my daily, and will be overjoyed with these two as my two car garage!

Mine was a one owner car with warranty and in perfect condition with PPF etc, but still took time to find a buyer. In fact it's now, still, for sale with the OPC.

Perceived value and someone buying it, totally different i can see. Same for housing market! Why taking so long? is it just the buyer pool being smaller?

If you buy at £62k your money will be pretty safe, the market is unlikely to collapse there are not many cars in total and they are just brilliant what has already been stated I agree with, they are likely to bottom out at around £60k. If you look at the Cayman R which was around £50K when new and good cars now 10 years old are still selling for £40k.
If you want it then buy it you will have lots of fun

Thank you. Not sure why I am so conscious this time about buying! Maybe because its my first Porsche! I nearly got a cayman R back in 2011 but opted for a 1M which I kept 5 years and came out even!

Steel brakes- how often do they squeak? Car was serviced by porsche last week.

Market is strong. Mines at 27,000 miles 2 owner car. It’s up 10% in value since I got it 3 months ago.

Someone now is going to pay a significant premium, for the cost to dealer of 2 tyres.
So a high miler that I struggled to keep this low, such great cars to drive, always an event.

Probably not. Seen a GT3 RS I rather like and to fund it I’d have to sell GT4. Still in two minds I find the GT4 perfect for A roads and long trips, concerned gt3 RS will simply be too fast. For me at least.
