GTS 4.0 Oil Consumption
Discussion
My Cayman is almost a year old. I was returning home today after a weeks 1000 mile tour of the Lake District, and my low engine oil light and warning message came on stating the oil was at its minimum level and requires a litre to top it up. The car has just hit 3,500 miles. I have run it in very carefully for first 1800 miles and its been driven pretty respectfully over the remaining mileage. Is this normal oil consumption?

Yep, lots of US comments on Rennlist about it.
My GT4 needed a top up recently, delayed by the fact I had an oil change at 1800m, and I'm around 5k miles now.
Perfectly normal by the sound of it.
Be careful topping it. I added 0.5L and it's at the perfect level of one bar below the max. 1L would have overfilled it.

Can anyone confirm that this is the correct oil for the 4.0? https://www.amazon.co.uk/Mobil-151500-0W-40-Engine...
Yep that's the oil which I got from my OPC yesterday. It was only a quid more than the cheapest online I could find and it was peace of mind. I also got to have a browse at their cars Gassing Station | Boxster/Cayman | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
