For info:

May 2014 car. Last serviced Feb 2020 at 52663k by GCR Leicester, now on 59k. Slightly overdue its 2yr service

Toady RPM quoted 50% of what OPC Leicester quoted. Yes... HALF!!

Plus, speaking to Lydia at RPM was a pleasure.

Speaking to Lydia at OPC Leicester service reception was a painfully dull lifeless experience. Why do I even bother...

Last OPC service 2018 left the car bonnet scratched, wing shat on, disrespectful tech on dash cam, ignorant tech on dash cam, OPC closed at agreed collection time, had to go over OPC's head to PGB for a service issue, OPC had to redo oil change at PGB's cost.
Oh... and taken for fuel to a TESCO (on dash cam) That was the last straw!!

RPM = £750
OPC = £1488

I phoned the OPC just to check RPM were doing the right service as it seemed less than I expected for what I had in my mind was a 'major'.

OPC in 2018 put fuel in as they had expected me to collect it, but were closed at the agreed time of collection, place deserted, lights off, 10am Saturday morning. They'd also no doubt driven it about a bit trying to work out what was going on with my oil temp, but they didn't know what it should be in the first place which is why PGB had to get involved.

They then offered to drive it to me so had to put fuel in. When it arrived with HUGE amounts of bird st running down the front wing I was distracted by this and didn't notice the newly acquired damage to the bonnet until after the driver left (without offering to clean up 'his' st).

Bonnet now repainted, at my cost, by the wonderful https://www.colourkit.co.uk
They paint panels only with no blending in for Rhodium Silver. I was sceptical but it's a perfect match.
I had some general stone chips to the front bumper so had a "facelift" at the same time.

They happen to be Porsche Leics used car body shop, discovered when I asked a smart repairer what to do and he recommended them.

Can't get another 2 year warranty as I prefer the protection my Zunsport grilles give and they void the warranty.

I believe (others don't so let's not go there) that Tesco fuel is substandard. You may be an expert, but I've done my own research so let's, please, not get into that debate.

I like Marmite too. You may not.

Labour is £80+VAT on the RPM estimate.

I believe that's a discounted price for standard services. Additional or ad hoc work may be charged at a higher rate.

Given the experiences shared on OPC servicing it seems odd to call them & confirm the quote from a reputable indy is the 'right' service.

Especially when the service booklet lists everything related to the service + other consumerables like spark plugs, belt check etc
It was a different OPC.
I had in mind £1,500 so when quoted £750 I had to check. Brainwashed perhaps?

I have just used Cotswold Porsche Indy specialist. Brilliant service and advice.
You know what even if they were more expensive than an OPC (don’t tell them) I would still use them.
That's the key.
I asked RPM to check my brake disc thickness. "They're fine" rather than "Unfortunately sir all four need changing."
RPM offer a free comprehensive checkover on a Saturday. After a few hours I'm invited into the workshop by the technician. "Everything is perfect, no work needed. I did find an area of underseal which had been applied rather lightly so I've topped it up. No charge."
And they are NORMAL HUMAN BEINGS. You try finding one of those amongst the OPC robots.

o you believe a garage opens on a Saturday, pays for staff, uses equipment that costs plenty to maintain to get under cars without expecting to gain anything from doing it.

Seriously?
That’s exactly my point.
Obviously they hope to gain work but whereas any cowboy outfit would create unnecessary work RPM were honest in their appraisal.

Have you never had a main dealer sit you down with a list of urgent advisories costing £1,000 only to get a second opinion and find you need to spend just £100?

If not, you may have been ripped off all your motoring life. That IS the norm I’m sad to say.

I don't recall the extended warranty conditions prohibiting servicing elsewhere? Isn't that breaking block exemption rules?

OPC Leicester advised I was quite at liberty to have OE discs fitted at indy GCR within the extended warranty terms. But then they did wrongly put the 2yr extended warranty on my car when they shouldn't have so may well have been talking out of their arse.

Well I'm out of extended warrany anyway, since PGB advised OPC Leicester had wrongly extended it.

I'm keeping away from OPCs in future. Too many mistakes, too much ignorance, and I don't want to fork out again for damage done whilst there.
