That roof! Back to 987 Spyder tent.

Crucially… spring and damper rates reduced to be more suitable for relax and characteristically convertible setup.

Hopefully that means complainers will move out of 4RS and leave one for me! Haha biggrin

I agree it’s a bit try hard IMO.
The aero appendages were fine for 4RS as a track biased car.

I was hoping that Spyder RS might have been more restrained and more like the CGT or 918 Spyder.

The roof is compromised in order to deliver a similar sound stage as 4RS, and to be able to used the GT3 engine.

It’s not the car for me, I’ll take the other twin biggrin

Would probably spec the new grey also. Perfect balance between Black, GT Silver and Agate. Love it and would look classy

Same path as usual - If you watch some of the other videos - AP says - yes we constrain supply heavily within the 1st MY on these types of cars and then turn up the taps. some of it is due to materials availability and also tuning the production line for the new model.

e.g in the US right now - there are 15 GT4RS on Porsche Approved, some have less than 100miles on them.

They are not limited/numbered directly - but there is a close link with fleet carbon emissions as well - which applies to us here at least.
I understand it needs equivalent of 3x Taycan sold to allow 1x MDG.G engined car sale.

The verdict on the Spyder RS is lynch-pinned on how it rides on UK roads.

Porsche have stated that is it softer riding, as would be expected of a roadster - if that really works as advertised, then it will be vaulted to the top of the pile in terms of desirability, as its base will be broadened.

Nice riding, small, 500hp, sound, open top.

Don't personally think 120mph 'roof on limit' is really an issue on the road, even when you're on your own, and then for occasional use on track on a sunny day, take the roof.

I would view it as a miniature Carrera GT lite - but it is missing crucial aspect.... the manual gearbox... I still believe Porsche might address this in a final final model.

I have a soft spot for the Spyder - would love to have one for high days in my retirement garage, one specced like that Rubystar neo one above would be ideal. Personally think WP takes it too far.

Obviously 120mph on the road is only an issue for Euro hoons, T, but on a damp day it could be annoying. Same for track use. I think it's a very limited market in the UK for this car - it's very much for the odd high day and holiday IMHO. It's great that it's been made and there is the choice though.

I think the issue with the roof is the engine intake - it takes up all the room for a proper mechanical roof to fold in to.
Yes - the intake and the mechanical roof were not compatible.

They've said that this is the final Boxster model, and I can't see them adding a manual option to the RS, so it is what it is.

The final final run-out is looking like it'll be a 718R if it gets produced, and that will be Cayman only according to rumours.
Whatever they say, is the truth in the moment they say it, not beyond, lol, also large enough demand is there.
Manual would actually make far more sense in a 'Spyder R' though.

Yel I think he meant v the GT4RS which is somewhat hatsh as its meant to be.

Main reason it came towards the last on the Evo Coty 2 for what its worth.
Yes, softer/retuned vs 4RS.

As you say everyone has was complaining about a track special not being great on crappy UK roads… I mean, who’d have thought it!

According to the Car Magazine video… huge reduction in spring rate…. Back to almost 718 Spyder levels?!

-55% Front and -45% Rear vs 4RS.

IMO, if you’re complaining about the roof, you haven’t understood this car.
