Comparable on cost I'd say, but for my money I will have a brand new loom and (widely available and cheap to replace!) senders, so the long term pay off should be significant. Either which way you look at it, it's not a cheap gig, but well worth it for the reliability benefits and ease of future upgrades. I thought long and hard about VEMS, but the 30 year old cooked loom is the weak link in the chain for me. Plus Bailey Performance (well regarded on here) are just up the road from me and specialise in MS installs, so it makes good sense.
The alternator is from a Suzuki Swift and is tiny! Wouldn't be much use of a road car though as it's only 60A...
Where are you sourcing the loom from ? And is that the Paul Bailey that used to be based nr Royston. The alternator is from a Suzuki Swift and is tiny! Wouldn't be much use of a road car though as it's only 60A...

One of my most enjoyable track days ever was in my first Porsche - an S2 - in torrential rain at Knockhill, with very little tread on the rear tyres.
I thought it would be a recipe for disaster, but was amazed at the grip actually available, and how easy and enjoyable the car was to control on the limit of that grip in the corners.
Ultimately probably little difference on the road between an S2 and a 968 in similar mechanical condition. I believe the power difference is offset by the S2 being lighter.I thought it would be a recipe for disaster, but was amazed at the grip actually available, and how easy and enjoyable the car was to control on the limit of that grip in the corners.

Thanks for the heads up, incidentally a pal had also pointed me in the direction of that. Big money though for what is a poorly-listed kit with sod all meaningful details... I'm sure it's quality tack though.
It's not for me as I'm pretty settled on the idea of an offset-ground 2.5 crank and 4G63 Evo rods, making race shells easily and cheaply accessible for future rebuilds.
It is big money though it was also 'offers', maybe it's just a poorly worded advert. There was a similar 3.0 setup on Gumtree in that part of the world a while back, when I asked a few pertinent questions it went quiet, so I would be very careful. I'd also go the offset stroker route if I didn't already have most of the 3.0 bits already. It's not for me as I'm pretty settled on the idea of an offset-ground 2.5 crank and 4G63 Evo rods, making race shells easily and cheaply accessible for future rebuilds.
