Hi All,

I am considering swapping to a Porsche and have been looking around at the Macans. There seems to be a far few decent Macans about, but am really stuck on whether a Diesel will be a bad investment due to the new regulations coming in. What's the general opinion of what the second Macan market will look like in 2/3 years. Do you think they will hold their value against the petrol?

I know no-one has a crystal ball, but would be interested in what people generally think will happen?

Cheers guys,

That is really useful. I am only planning on keeping it for 2/3 years and do 10-12K annual milage. So i guess I will be looking at a petrol unless a really good deal comes up, although as Cpt Stirling said they don't seem to be discounted to price in the future threats.

Still I will test drive both petrol and diesel to at least be fully informed of the drive :-)

Interesting.. More food for thought.

Regarding the DPF issue, hopefully that wouldn't be too much of an issue. When I drive my car to work I will generally do an 80 mile round trip, with a bit of cruising on the motorway. The DPF issues sound like if it is being used from cold for short journeys, which I don't do that often.

I guess I am back to square one again though. Still can't decide if it is a risk or not for the diesel model. There is definitely more stock of the diesels around, but I am pretty sure I read somewhere that Porsche had sold a lot more of these than the petrols.

Well, I took the Macan S Diesel out for a test drive and loved it. Really nice car and lovely to drive.

I had been thinking about a year or two old one, but ended up buying one that was on delivery to the showroom with nearly everything I wanted. The only thing it doesn't have is the Sports Chrono Pack, which if I hadn't played with it in the test drive I wouldn't have wanted, but can probably live without it. As suggested, I am going the PCP route so that I am protected somewhat against future diesel penalties. I ended up paying not much more than the price of the 1/2 year old ones I was considering.

Thank all for the advice, and I will pop a picture up next week when I pick it up from the dealer.
