Always liked the quirky look of the macan but always thought they weee more than they were,
Are residuals really that good?
Are they worth the extra over the Mercedes glc or the evoque? Obviously near gts spec and turbo spec you're also in Range Rover sport territory and even cayenne territory,

Also what are lead times as I've got 18 month to run but heard there's upto 20 month to wait

Also what are they like to live with I've got 2 young kids who at the time of purchase would be 6 and 3, plenty of room?
Currently got a mk7 gti and it's obviously on the small side but manageable

Going down to look at Porsche in Leeds this week to have a gander but would rather hear ph opinions on the car as you lot will be far more honest than any salesman.

all sounds good

The standard equipment and options are abit of a joke though I'd have thought decent lights and say nav would have been standard

Where does the dog go , or 2 bikes etc etc ? as I said it's a life style tall car for school runs, you have just confirmed it :-) Cayenne is a far better SUV and more usefull, I just don't get small tall cars ! they do nothing well !!
Luckily for me I don't have dogs and I don't have bikes either my boot is used for kids pushchair and shopping and to carry a few spares for work

I do 20k miles per year but I suck it up in the golf and my long term average over 18 month has been 26mpg plus with diesels going how they are I'm afraid residuals probably would kill the idea of the diesel so it would be either the petrol s or the gts with options! can't afford the turbo plus options as well in all honesty and not even sure the turbo would warrant all that extra cash

It sounds like it will fit my needs as well, as long as I can get my Asda shop in the boot and keep the wife happy then I'm happy,

Looks good that turbo!

Another question what are the service intervals?
Every 10k or 20k?

I really don't like estates if I'm honest this would be my first suv and certainly my first Porsche, I'm going down this weekend to have a look and check them out

There are three seat options on the Macan - 8-way adjustable, 14-way and 18-way. They're all quite different and its very much down to your own physical build and your personal preference. If possible, try all 3 of them and then decide.
And those that are uncomfortable what seats do you have? Because if you've all got the same then I will at least know which I'm looking for

I test drove a Macan as a potential daily driver a couple of months ago, liked the way it drove, liked the way it looked and it's a good size for me but with a few interior trinkets and some wheels costs soon added up.

I ended up with a £36K Golf R Estate on a cheap lease deal that's just as fast, drives just as nice (if not better) is about the same size but with a bigger boot for a fraction of the cost. There's nothing fancy about the VW badge but its well equipped and does everything a Macan does (except see over other traffic) and its only a daily, I really couldn't justify the price difference to a Macan.
Tbh you could say any car isn't worth it but I've had my vw golf gti (didn't want the R) and I'm not loyal to a particular brand as such I just want to try different cars, and I've done the golf gti thing now so that's ticked off, plus I'm not sure I like the golf estate to me it look abit fussy on the rear end and rear quarters plus I think 30-40k on a vw golf is a lot of money

My shortlist was:
Rs3
The new golf 2.5 that they're testing
A evoque
Merc glc
BMW 440i grancoupe

The rs3 will be hot property with thieves, same with the new golf that they will apparently make, the evoque I was put off by the fixed panoramic roof and there's something about them I don't like, the BMW will lose a st load of money I reckon and the merc glc has crabbing issues which when you're paying 40-50k I think is shocking!

I've loved the macan on the outside and one parked next to me a while ago and it looked nice inside, I just happened to browse the price and realised it's pretty much within budget, then I read they were one of the highest on maintaining value with some at a few year old going for very similar to new price and retaining 78% of their value! That to me is all bonus points

Yeah cheers for that my only concern regarding boot space is for shopping and family days out and luggage for the airport I go to Florida next year and can't even fit 2 cases in the golf so certainly won't fit 4

Taxi for us now as my dad has become a tree hugger and sold his 3yr old RRS for a bloody plug in Prius!

Had a good look at the macan and I must say I love it, boot is huge compared to the golf

Going to arrange a test drive this week

What options are a must as I just spec'd a gts to 78k

Do many of you spec many options?

Also does the options make much difference to the final payment?

See I fancied a diesel but I can see it losing money quickly with the way diesel is going which scares me a little! The salesman also said they will be releasing a facelift in the next 12-18 month and depending on car and spec it would take between 4-12 month if I ordered today so said it might be worthwhile waiting,

I told him I've got 18 month left on mine anyway so he said definitely wait for the facelift then as some options should become standard on it,

Also said I will get a better price on my golf for staying within the vag group (forgot Porsche was vag owned)

One thing I will say is my colour choice is either decided on the sapphire blue the night blue OR the nice grey in the brochure (it looks lighter than volcano but darker than silver)

I was also suprised how long the 918s are in the flesh

Trouble is I don't like estates i also want a higher seating position and I think the Tiguan is too expensive for what it is £40k for the model I liked the q5 isn't that far off the Porsche in price either, but neither carry as desireable badge as the Porsche does!

I always get scoffed at for driving a vw as a poor mans audi yet I'm not massively keen on audis as I find them dull, BMW will lose a ton of money, I think mercs are generally horrid with the stuck on screens, stepmum has a merc e class convertible 13 plate and it's just so dated but again I find Mercedes are crap for retained value, cost of that car was £45k and at 3yr old and 20 odd thousand miles they've told her it's worth 14k at least the Porsche looks good lovely interior and holds its value well

my only issue would be if I used it for work occasionally which I need to would it upset customers? As my industry customers are struggling and someone turning up in a Porsche to collect money off them at 34yr old might upset them slightly,

How did the test drives go ?...I'm considering the GTS as a daily, I've got a test drive in a Turbo this weekend as they don't have a GTS but also considering the RS3 / RS4.
The Porsche was absolutely beautiful if I'm honest and the RS3 is scheduled for 10am tomorrow

I tested the macans boot and it happily fit a pushchair and other bits and bobs

In the golf once the pushchair is in there nothing else is going in!

To be fair you can't compare a Golf hatchback with a Macan, the latter is a much bigger car.

I'd use the Golf estate as a comparisonand that has a huge boot (over 600 litres) which would take your pushchairs and the weekly shop with ease.

However the Macan is without a doubt in a different league on all measures....including price.
Yeah I'm not into estates at all

I have just got back from my rs3 test drive and that thing was very urgent very loud and a hooligan this rly isn't going to be an easy decision I do have 12 month to make my mind up though so maybe the next macan will be out

Both the RS3 and the Porsche are similar prices with a few options and looking to order in march
