When is a Clubsport Not a Clubsport
Discussion
Well again dealers are selling Porsche 968 U.K. sports as Clubsport at greatly inflated prices
Yes they have a CS chassis but they were modified by AFN the importer to have the Lux Pack, soft seats, electric windows ...
And registered in the U.K. as 968 sports, the certificate will say Clubsport but with lux pack
Don’t get ripped off thinking it’s a genuine CS, there were only 157 sold in the U.K.
306 Sports
If it has a key hole in the rear for the hatch, it’s a sport, and worth considerably less than a genuine CS
Buyers beware

A CS with original hard back buckets is the most expensive version
To be absolutely honest having driven loads of these coupe sport CS, it’s almost impossible to tell which one your driving
But nothing stopping you fitting buckets to a sport?
The last set of genuine hard back seats that came up for sale went for £3000!

Thanks for that,
That was the whole idea, to stop fellow enthusiasts who maybe in the market for a 968, getting relieved of 10k extra of their hard earned cash
To give a guide
A very good low miles coupe 12-15
A very good low miles Sport 15-20
A very good low miles CS 25-35
Very easy for the dealer to Chuck a badge and some stickers on, show a certificate, make up some fluff about the Lux Pack
And pocket a 10k profit for misrepresenting a car
Not far short of fraud really,
Buyers do your homework, there are plenty of folks that know these cars to help, on special 968 forums and of course Porsche Club GB
And real CS only came in

Yes the seat in the 964RS had cushions laid directly onto the composite frame structure of the seat.
The 993RS seat had fabric sprung above the composite frame structure and the cushions were laid on this.
From what you have said it sounds like the earlier 968CS had 964RS seats and the later 968CS had 993RS seats.
It's my understanding also that the early CS cars came with Cup 1 wheels whilst the later ones came with Cup 2.
Almost uniquely for Porsche they chose to reduce the price of the 968CS ... contrary to the more expensive 964RS / 993RS which were stripped but to be improved in many other areas ... was the 968CS also ?
I think this is a very useful and interesting thread ... I hope my recollections compliment this.
In answer to the last part about improvements, I am afraid you will be disappointed, other than weight loss and 20mm lower, it was the same as a standard coupe, The 993RS seat had fabric sprung above the composite frame structure and the cushions were laid on this.

No change in engine or gearing or spring rates
The only other option was the M030 package, adjustable Koni dampers and bigger anti roll bars and larger radial brakes
There are very few factory cars with the M030 option as it was a very expensive option, there are plenty of cars with the parts fitted later.
Very few original CS cars left, and the really good ones are in collections
Well now we have decided that this is not a 944 thread, and hopefully any 968 buyers are now much more aware of the situation for getting pickpocketed for loads of cash
There a black sport currently for sale as a CS, along with the others already shown
It’s now quite possible that there are more CS clones than sports, so the U.K. only sport is the rarer car
Or you could save a bunch and buy a boring nobody wants coupe, stick some new suspension on it and still have a great car

Just to be contrarian, I had a "real" CS - M139 MNC (current owner is on here) which was Amethyst and I assume a PTS special order. It also had comfort seats and (iirc) a sunroof.............sold it to a mate for £13k in about 2003 with 57k on it as I'd bought a 996 and it wasn't getting used much. Top of my list of cars I should have kept!
I did say anything was possible if you had enough money, but the original sales blurb says those coloursYou would be surprised how many say they wish they had kept their 968, but don’t buy another one

There's a lot of 944 in a 968 though . I went to buy a 968 Coupe from a P'boro Indy nearly 15 years ago. Got there and he tried to jack the price up by a grand.
no one is denying that fact, this whole thread is about customers getting ripped off buying what was originally registered as a UK sport badged and stickered up as a Clubsport, not the merits of 944 over 968 or how many parts were shared, or anything else, All FE cars are just great and there is just no need to get into all that,
and here is a real **ss take, a coupe sold as a sport cos its got buckets and a stuff
mind you don't pay to much,
the sport chassis number started on PS, this car is a NS so a plain old coupe.

Buyers beware, there are some rear crooks trying to open your wallets for a good robbing

just had to replace my Alternator Harness, it was falling apart from old age, the whole thing had bio-degraded
the big issue is the big wire is connected to the battery and the red/blue is the starter, they breakdown and touch and if in gear, your car is off down the drive without you,
they are NLA from porsche so I had to make one...
affects all 968's, the harness was made by Leoni in the UK, and fitted to all cars, cab's coupe's sports and CS,
Please check yours if its crunchy is finished
